I went to Makro to buy a dishwasher and left with a Canon 400D dSLR (18-55) :D

I used to do a lot of amateur photography about 10 years ago and I'm amped to be back in the game.

Ok, so after much consideration, I decided that I'm rather gonna save up and get the 40D. I know, I know... I know what some of you are thinking :D but this is final. I rather want to err on the side of caution and get a better DSLR and so I think that a little more moola makes it all worthwhile.

Aah, I see what you're doing :p

Its annoying - every weekend I promise myself - and every weekend I'm either working or busy with something else.

My brothers keen, so hopefully I pawn it off on him, he already has my old Panasoinc

So where are the pics :D
Yeh - I'm thinking I might sell my 450D and get one too :)
So you're selling the camera you have, but dont have time to use, for a new one? Does the new one come with a 25 hour day? :D

I meant get it in about a years time, when I have free time to learn :)

Very nice - I see you got your flickr going too - that's almost a rule here :) There's a new flickr group for us lot too "mybroadband" - add yourself to it

bcm, I understand what you're saying. The DSLR was completely bewildering to me when I just got it - I was shocked by how badly I got it wrong some times. My previous SLR had three things that I could set - aperture, shutter and focus (and ISO via my choice of film) - all completely manual. I had no idea what white-balance was

Except you can't offer me a local warranty. For that price I'd much rather get the 18-55 IS lens kit for R14000. No offence. I don't want the hassle of sending my camera to the states to get it repaired, in the event that it does need one.

I beg to differ, the 18-55 lens can't compare to the 2 I have listed on that special.

Re the warranty, I'm not sure what you mean, I would also hate for you to send any camera from us to the states, what would be the point of that?

None of our items are imported from the USA , most are direct from Japan and generally come with an international warranty.

Local agents hum and hah if they have to repair items that they haven't ripped you off from, and in cases like that, you would send the goods back to us and we would handle any repair returns, which would generally be quicker than the local agents any how.

Re the 18-55 kit my price is a lot cheaper, but I will advertise it in the hardware section later.
