As folks may or may not know, I'm US based these days.
I also do voice overs - got my own home studio set up.

So my voice agent in LA, routinely sends me things to do auditions for, and I record
and send them off..

Point being, just got finished doing a whole series of voice auditions
for.. RED ALERT 3..

The cool thing is, for those who're into the game - is that there's
a new army in town - XXXXXX ' (censored) :)

(I also did an audition for.. (a whole bunch of details removed for fear that I screw it up, in case I get the job :P )

Be afraid, be very afraid - if my audition pleases whoever's about to release it (Westwood?)
you might get to hear MY voice all the damn time while playing the game :P

I figure the game is maybe a month away from release, at most, if they've got to
the final stages of voice casting.
Watch this space ..

well I should know within a day or two, I guess.. As a major RA 2 fan, all I want for Xmas is to get to be one or another of the voices in the new RA 3..

(a whole bunch of details about RA 3 unit structure removed, out of nervousness and fear, and not wanting to screw up in case I get the job :P

You sure that you didn't sign any NDAs?

Anyway sounds cool...but I'm a bit concerned about their new 'light-hearted' style. I hope it does not end up looking like a comic.:o

nope, didnt sign anything - however, now you got me nervous - so you'll notice that some details have ahem 'disappeared' from the above posts :P

Having recently played RA 2 and Yuri through from start to finish again, I'm hoping that they stay more or less in the same world, with the same kind of structure, and don't go ape with too much rotating points of view or anything. To me its always about strategy first, and visuals second - I figure there's enough attention on an RA3 that they'll be careful with it.. I hope :P
*carefully edits off the details, before the rest of the internet finds it*
:)

And being the paranoid dude that you are, all we have to do is look at the credits to see who did the voice overs, and we've got your name! :D

Btw congrats! That sounds like an awesome job to get.

This is awesome, I only played the early CnC games and the original red alert (Dos VGA :D) I've been too busy since then to play, but I am eagerly awaiting the new one, since I have a lot to catch up.

Well done man, I'm seriously holding thumbs for you on this, not just because of the opportunity but I hope you get it for the rewards as well. Keep us posted.

ah well, its just one of many things that I've gotten to audition for - but given that I'm a total RA2/Yuri geek, it would be kinda cool..

I auditioned for the animated new star wars thing 'clone wars' - (never got it tho) but saw that it was announced in the papers within a week, so I'm guessing that RA 3 is also real close to being done.
Had an audition recently for 'Call of Duty 5' (no, I didnt get it) so thats another game that's coming very soon, for those into CoD..

As far as having an 'aha that's LG' moment..

When I was in SA, I did a LOT of voice overs.. I promise that you've heard me :P

Remember... City Lodge TV ads - the guy farting, the couple making out etc..that British sounding voice at the end of the ad, going "We'll make you feel at home.." (me)

The anti piracy campaigns for cinema & TV "If you buy pirated dvd's - you're supporting criminals' (me) (and yeah, it was delicious irony)

All the movie ads you heard on radio. For 'King Kong' 'Munich' 'Pride n Predjudice' 'Just Like Heaven' 'Doom' etc (all the UIP Warner things) (me)

All the Gallo music radio ads.. for Madonna, REM, Red Hot Chilli Peppers.. (me)

I was also the 'voice' for TV 2 for a few years, so all those '..only on 2' and the movie promo's, were me.

Finweek magazine's weekly ads (up until I left) - I had to schlep into studio early every monday morning to record.. "Succinct, sharp relevant, and out every monday.." (me)

Mnet promo's "the stuff that dreams are made of" (me again, much to the horror of Tv 2 :P

You get the idea :P
Here's a cut n paste from my voice resume:

"Products & Campaigns voiced: KFC, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Visa, Pizza Hut, Schick Razors, Red Bull, Agfa, Pringles, Kellogg’s, EMI, Sealy Posteurpedic, South African Airways, Greyhound Bus, Nu Metro Film Distributors, Ster Kinekor Film Distributors, FinWeek Magazine, UIP-Warner, MNET TV, Tusk Music, Southern Sun Hotels, DSTV Multichoice, Pedigree Dog Food, Nedbank, Engen, CAN, Yokohama, assorted Ads-Up TV, Tiger Wheel and Tyre, Independent Newspaper Company, MNET Sound Check, Bruma Flea Market, Volkskas Bank, ‘Green Machine,’ Pampers, Castle Lager, PG Glass, MNET Multichoice, Standard Bank, Sun International, Financial Mail, Zappa Sambucca, Berocca Calcium, First Bowring Insurance, , Out There Magazine, Ithuba Games, Stannic, KTV, Akira TV, Barracuda Pool Cleaners. (etc)

re Castle Lager, did a few a loong time back - I wasn't the 'regular' voice.. not for quite a few years, but it looked good on the resume..

re I'm the anti-piracy guy.. yup.. couldnt agree on a price to get on the ads they used on dvd's - so I was mostly in the cinema ad versions, and some radio ones.. It'd be blah blah blah ending with "its the same thing isnt it? When you buy pirated dvd's and games, you're supporting.. " etc. You see - I have no shame. None, at all :)
There's a couple of the pretty badly done radio ads, (vocal-wise badly, I mean) still up on Safact's own page, at http://www.safact.co.za/media_awareness.htm
My fave tho, is the series of City Lodge ones, with a Brit sounding voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQRFb86lXOY

I'm also (or 'was' also) that deep voice you heard in the movies saying, umm (having to go back a few years) 'Nu Metro, Always Entertaining' I think was the phrase :)
