Hi all,
what a crappy end to a crap week.

I updated the phones firmwear for the third time in its life and when the latest update finished i was so happy i yanked out the cable!
I OH SO STUPIDLY FORGOT IT STILL HAD TO INSTALL!
As i stare at this pathetically retarded phone i know its pretty much brain dead and lost in the digital heaven forever.
Is there anything i can do about this or have i just lost a R2700 phone?
I wanna vomit im so upset!
Perhaps next time i shouldnt drink beer when attempting this.
 
I would,only it wasnt in the very best condition,in fact its a really worn out looking brick.
I have to decide between spending alot on a worn out premium phone or a cheap new phone.
And that camera was very good!
I just got married so money is really tight.
 
I had the same problem. Do a Google search for "JAF". You will need the proper cable and will be able to restore the phone in most cases.

That hard reset,is it the green call button,the star and three?
It has never worked on my n73 even when it wasnt brain dead.
 
Mmm even though i dont have a jaf cable,it seems as if any cellphone repair guy worth his weight in gold should have one.
I almost threw this phone from the balcony an hour earlier and now there is hope.
 
The method of performing a hard-format, i.e resetting it completely to factory defaults and removing all data, is as follows:

1. Switch off the phone.
2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (call answer) button, * button, and '3' button
3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone
4. When the message 'Formatting' appears on the screen, release all of the buttons

Note that you shouldn't switch the phone off or remove the battery when performing either of these operations, and it's advised that the handset has a reasonable amount of battery charge before performing a format/reset.
