You can use a lightning fried modem/router as a fibre router!

My Archer D7 got smashed by god last summer, I pulled it out this morning and plugged it in, set it to wifi router mode, connected it to the fibre router box, and bang works like a dream.

It beats this Zyxel that came from Telkom. Happy days!

My Archer D7 which got hit by lightning a month or so ago is totally dead, even the power supply doesn't power up another Archer, but yes if only the ADSL bit is fried, you can still use it as a router.

Same thing happened to me. Just be careful the board may now be sensitive to power spikes and may die at anytime.
