Don't ask me why but for some reason I have nostalgia for Quake 2 running on glide.

Anyone remember this site? They always hosted all kinds of files like screensavers and demos for stuff that needed a 3D card.

Spent hours downloading stuff there while still on dialup.

Yea, that and the weird coding thing people used to do.

The first big thing that I bought with my own money was a Diamond Monster 3D (Voodoo 1). My boss thought I was mad to pay that much for a card just for games (actually just one game - Quake).

I still think that was one of the best upgrades I've ever done. On par with going from PC Speaker to SoundBlaster.

Lol, sounds similar to my story. Bought a Voodoo Banshee, cost me like R1500 back then. My buddies told me I was crazy. Also just to play Quake :D
I still have the card in a box somewhere :D

Those were the days. I started off with one of those S3 Trio 2MB cards and later bumped it to 4MB. I thought it was the **** until my friend bought the Diamond Monster 4MB ( I think it was 4MB). I bought that exact card later and lasted me for a while with my AMD processor. I had to tweak my quake a bit to run on that 3D Now tech. I remember it messed around with the graphics. It turned everything yellow but the fps was awesome.
I lived in PTA and when we played Quake 2 online all the guys in CPT complained about the lag on the JHB servers, so dialed up to the CPT ISP exchange from PTA to play them. It only lasted a month until the Telkom bill came and I got a moerse uit *** from my father.

I don't miss it at all had a voodoo banshee which I replaced with voodoo 3 3500 that lasted till my geforce 2 now that rocked.
