I need a camcorder, any advice will be appreciated

I want to buy a camcorder, not that fancy just practical.

Im looking at the Sony HDR CX 100 8GB internal, R6999 at New World

Thought about the Sony HDR XR 100 as well but do you really need 33 hours of recording time for casual recording?? at about R8999??

I also looked at the Sanyo HD watercam H264 R5999

the sony don't have a flash for still pictures and only have a 10X optical zoom as to the Sanyo 30X with flash

Any help or better prices???

So not the sanyo then? What about the flash and the 30x zoom?, not that important?

Stick to Sony and Canon. That zoom is digital, so the image will become very shaky, the more you zoom. I wouldn't bother too much with digital zoom.

The Sanyo is 30x optical and 400x digital, but yes maybe the safe choice is the Sony

Yeah, the image will become very shaky the more you zoom. You'll need a tripod to get a stable image at that level of zooming. Digital zooming you may as well ignore. It's useless. It's the optical that really makes the difference, but like I said, it will become shaky. Sony, Canon and Panasonic make the best video cameras. You can't go wrong with either of their models.

It takes too long, depending on the length of your footage. I won't deny that DV produces the best quality, but people prefer convenience. With HDD video cameras, you can easily transfer your material via USB to your PC. Much less time and space than streaming your DV tape to PC.

Stick with Sony. I had a Canon camcorder for years but it didn't measure up with the Sony that I got recently. Panasonic is great too.
