I need one

Yeah 160GB and 1GB will sure give him good gaming with a x300se or a 6150 chip...

Tthe XFX is the cheapest 7600gs card around, you want me to go with a more expensive make?

No no, I meant with a cheaper brand of card. I said why waste money on XFX, not a 7600GS. The 7600GS is a pretty good choice. I saw someone with one in his PC yesterday, it ran surprisingly well. infact, he also had a 3500+ and 1Gb of ram, so the exact same system, ran well..

How much are the XFX models then? They are usually R100-500 more than budget brands... and he is on a budget. If it is around R1000 then you might as well go with XFX, but if you can save money with that, then it could be better spent than on a good card brand.

Anyway, my price basically is at cost and just goes to cover the costs (aka petrol) because I feel a bit charitable, but not charitable enough to go bargian hunting for second hand parts that might have problems and can not just be taken to a supplier to be swapped out without hassles.

Ja, of course I didn't mean you. I was talking to him, if he wants to save some money he could get second hand stuff.

It does sound like a good deal though, he could probably just go with that.
Very nice of you.... :)

but generally, I dont think you will find any problem with a second hand CPU. If it works when you test it out, not much can really go wrong, or its very rare. Same with a graphics card of a good brand and even ram.

Yeah, the XFX is under R1000, would have gone with a even cheaper Biostar (was under R900 a few weeks back) if Sahara hadnt raised the prices to near 7600GT levels.

The system I quoted is pretty upgradeble with 4 x ddr2 slots and apparently AM3 processors will fit into AM2 motherboards. :D

As to the harddrive, thats the cheapest one I could find that isnt a suckstor, errrr... I mean maxtor  , that would keep the price down.
