I need pots and pans

My wife has also started mentioning new pots recently. My mom has AMC pots from before I was born so I want to buy maybe 1 pot per year. She's definitely not impressed with that and wants a complete set. Her mother has the Bastille range of pots similar to the AMC ones which I think are also quite good. How is the Bastille range of pots?
 
I'd go with AMC pots....growing up, my mum used those pots and when I visit the folks now many, many years later, those pots are still in use! I personally also use them now. They are not cheap to say the least but really is worth the investment of having quality cookware.

trust me I do every time. anyone that ****s with my bank account gets the boot. unfortunately its my hosting and because i have clients still using the service, cant switch willy nilly
 
Game has a "kitchen in a box" for R400. You should pick that up. Pretty much everything you need in a kitchen. The pots are decent and the utensils/accessories are very cheap quality but they work. Get that this month then over the next few months you can slowly add quality cookware to your collection.

We've been using a set of Hart pots for the last 7 years. Now is the time to get a decent set.

Hah give it to my sister....Had a new Bauer non stick pan....First time use.Not working anymore.Send it back for repair.Bauer contacts us and said the pan was damaged beyond repair.
 
I think AMC is a serious overkill, unless you have a indian or italian aunty hiding in your pantry!

le creuset does the trick for me. its amazing how you can cook something in LC, and it tastes a million times better than Stainless Steel or anything else. ( I even got the LC stainless steel pots x 2 and they not so bad either..should be like regular SS or maybe marginally better.. not AMC though for sure!)
There's old wives tales about cast iron etc etc.. didnt believe it till I cooked in it. Boy was I amazed!
definately wait for them to go on special at less 20%..... you could pick up maybe 3 pots, and a few other odds and ends for under R5k.
and LC is for life man! cast iron is HARD!
 
that bastille cast iron is a le cresuet copy!
and its almost the same price! for a knock off! sheesh!

Go into Woolies get your self a large, medium size pot and frying pan. thats all you need for now.

Dude I doubt that you are going to cook dinners for 12 people etc so the above is all you need.

I really like my amc pots etc, but I bought a set of pots from Game 20 years ago for R399-00 and they work perfect right up to now.

I think Game still stocks them it has a glass lid with Gold handles.

Your best bet is if you choose a pot look for something with a relatively heavy base

BTW Woolies has a very reasonably priced set of cast iron pots that look exactly like Le Cruset at a third of the price
 
so let say hypothetically, you can only choose between AMC and Le Creuset....which one would win a poll (which one would you rather "invest" in)?

I almost always use our Amc for quick cooking. Le' Creuset for slower cooking, though my LC pan does lamb chops splendidly. My LC for oven as well. Amc used purely for stove top. Both quality products.
 
Has anybody had trouble with LC enamel chipping? That's what bothers me about them.
