Her small contribution to lessen the chance of another dog ( pure bred or not ) to find a home.

Btw, those people on Gumtree also "wanted" a dog at some point in their lives, then they decided to give it the boot.

On a serious note, I think that a website would be a waste of time, Facebook is probably the best option. You will reach more people.

WTF is up with FB search? I tried searching for this dog and it suggested - and then retrieved - results for chinese restaurants.

But I do agree - FB may be a better (read: free) start.

They tried to improve facebook search and totally farked it up.
If I'm searching for someone I am actually friends with, I type in the first letter of her name and it comes up in the list but if I type in her entire first name or even her entire name with surname it can't find her and gives me totally unrelated people I don't know!

Nicci, you seriously need to reconsider this. A cheap website (which is what you'll get from someone on this forum, if you want it for free) will probably do you more harm than good.

If you really can't afford it (why didn't you budget for advertising? What about food and shelter? Or medication? I hope that's covered) then rather look at building a website on WIX / Yola, Weebly, etc. IF you don't like what they have, then you'll have to look at getting funding in order to build a professional website.

For sure. Who would want to buy a dog worth R10 000 from a website that looks like it was made in MS paint.

On a side note. Good grief, R10 000 for a dog? What type of guarantee comes with the dog? Any assembly required? Do you have different models available and do they come with ABS?

All this op got here was wisecracks apart from getting told to "do it yourself".. nicci pls contact me via pm, if at all possible I will help you even though my knowledge may be waayyy lower than the "boffins" who won't help, I certainly will try. I understand exactly where you come from, having spent all yr funds just getting them etc, so yes, like I said, if I can be of assistance, just let me know mate.

For your record we offered her professional advice also volunteered to design the website for free but she never responded

Some people actually tried to give Nicci professional advice, for her own good but she insisted to have a website done for free. And while she can get a free website, by all means, it may cause much more harm to her business and marketing budget than she can imagine. There's a good reason why decent websites {cars / houses / clothes / etc} cost money. If Nicci is serious about this, she should budget to have a decent website built.

The DIY options like Wooza or Yola is there for this very reason: People who can't afford a professional todo the job properly, can do it themselves.

If you look through the responses you'll see that she was given 3 options:
1. DIY
2. Get it done very very cheap
3. Get it done professionally.
 
Still boffles my mind how people can't use fantastico to install wordpress of a ecommerce base.

For a real budget do most of it yourself and get a nice looking theme and only hire if you need custom coding done.

Hello TheGene. Thank you very much for your offer to help! I appreciate it a lot. I got a lot of advice to do it myself, but I have NO idea where to start, I don't even understand the settings they have sent me :( Wordpress also won't work for my needs, as it is not as functional for what I need, so I have gone another route.

I have managed to find someone to assist me, and in return I will do marketing for said person, as well as compensate at a later stage.
