Injured off duty :(

I was at a braai at my sister's place last night. I walked to go inside in the house and she has 3 steps, but the last one is probably as long as two of them combined.

I had my slops on. I stepped and just went to the ground. It felt like many air bubbles popped on my left leg (like when you crackle your fingers) and my right toe hurt like hell.

Safe to say, my sister and her husband rushed me to hospital, had an injection and took some xrays.

My left leg, near my foot, 2 or 3 ligaments are off and my right toe is broken.

Doctor booked me off for 7 days.

My question. Since I have the doctors note, would my employer be hard on me because I'm not at work, or can I relax about the issue?

Also, doc said it would take about 2 weeks for my right toe to feel better, but that I'd always have problems with it, because it's fractured right on the top joint. Would actually hopping on the right leg, since I can't step on the left cause more damage?

What would be the easiest method of moving around in your opinion? The hopping thing is quite strenuous :p

Also, I don't have medical, so it was a shocker knowing the whole exercise including the brace for my leg was just under a thousand bucks :( cash :o

Ey man - sorry to hear of your plight.
Best way to move around would be on crutches I reckon.
Only 7 days off for ligaments?
I don't know how bad that must be or what the recovery time is, but seems a bit quick, but then it's not a broken leg.

As for your boss, as long as you have the doctor's note and have informed him that you won't be in, then the law is on your side and no reason to stress.

Thanks Mr, Shakey ;)

My mom just said I should organize to hire some crutches somewhere. Thanks for explaining about work, appreciate it.

7 days does seem short, but let's hope I heal faster than required.

God bless you Mr. Shakey.

Get those crutches and keep the leg elevated when you're not moving around. ;)

Get well soon teratjie :)

Thanks Mr. Shakey.

I'm lying in bed with my laptop on my groin and my legs on some cushions in the air. It hurts like hell at the moment, flipping excrutiating. I have sworn worse than a pirate already :(

Thanks again.

Eina... jammer om te hoor, Teratjie!

Gou beter word hoor!

Ek is seker jy hoef nie te stres oor die werk situasie nie.

Dink aan jou!

ekke

Dankie my oom. Dis nogal baie seer en eks baie geirriteerd :(

Ouch - sorry to hear about your mishap.

If you have a doc's note then to hell with work. Get lots of DVD's and take it easy.

Keep the leg up and rest as much as possible. The less walking you do the quicker it will heal.

Just get a bell and when you need something shake it loudly for your S.O :D

Hehe :p

She's really too cool for words actually. She already organized some crutches for me and she's just very helpful. Probably because she's so worried. We aren't an official item yet, but maybe this experience alligns us a bit closer. She's crazy about me, but I'm the one holding back ;)

The boss shouldn't have a problem with it, especially if you have a doctors note. Sorry to hear about your misfortune, and I hope you get better soon! (take full advantage and relax as much as possible, find someone to look after ya :P )

Hey Buddy!

Listen to me, take a break and medication plus beer works well for pain.

*Note use at own risk*
