Hi,

I can upgrade my handset in January. I was dead set on getting myself an i-phone from Vodacom - this was until I heard that the only GPS software that can be used on the phone is Google Maps and the SA maps apparently leaves a lot to be desired. Can anyone confirm this? Am I better off getting the Nokia N96? - I love Nokia, yet much prefer the i-phone's interface and touch screen, but the GPS feature is also very important to me.

Thanks.

U can get a Tom Tom One gps at makro or HiFi Corp for R1499.

N96 > brick > iPhone

Unless you're a hapless fashion victim, you'll be a lot better off with the N96 - it's a real phone, not a shiny make-up mirror masquerading as one...

yeah, I was a tomtom/htc user of note. Dissapointed in crappy google maps, and esp[ecially imability of iphone to get sat signal! However, I was an HTC hacker and I am delighted and surprised by iPhone overall.

I also thought the i-phone was all hype untill I used it for a day. That must be one of the best phone gui's out there. Definately the best I've seen. Pity agin about the GPS. That will propably sway me to the Nokia - guess you can't have it all.
