A couple weeks ago I heard myself over a recording and I sounded really nasally (I don't normally sound nasally), I was surprised and since didn't feel congested.

Anyway I randomly recorded myself at various times in the day over the past couple weeks and I always sound like I have a cold despite having no symptoms except for random sneezes for no apparent reason.

I have no idea how long this has been happening but my guess this was gradual thing because people around me didn't seem to notice the change in the way I've sound, thinking back though people who've I've seen less often would ask me if I had a cold but I thought nothing of it because I sometimes had bouts of fatigue and insomnia.

Based on when the random sneezing started to happen, this has been going on for at least 8 months

Most people are surprised when they hear themselves speak via a recording. The trick is to practise until you're happy with how you speak.

Yes, and I think its more the case that most haven't heard themselves recorded before - at least not for a long while.
Also since the pandemic most people have upgraded their mic's so you are getting a better indication of what you sound like in a recording.

I was listening to a recording of a meeting recently and half way though this winey nasal voice cuts in and I was wondering who it was, because I don't remember this guy.
Then this guy starts talking about stuff happening in my space and the realization hit me - it was me.

I talk a lot less in meetings now.

You are going to practice for a long time. The best you can do is to accept how you sound, or work on your self-confidence. If you are going to be concerned about how you believe others perceive you, then the problem is manifested within yourself. I guess with training comes convincing.

What many people do who make content is to better optimise their voice with EQ and other related plugins. I know a local content creator who doesn't sound anything in person as he does in his content. You even have public speakers, and more so performers, who have assigned profiles which are tested and tuned before their event.

Obviously, not all recordings are of equal quality. The tools used highly influence the qualities of the recording. As most professionals know, RAW isn't ideal.

It has been hot lately, maybe you are over using the aircon at home and in the car.

Is this based on previous recordings?

TBH I'm always surprised when I hear a recording of my voice, it's hard to accept anyone could sound so amazing, then again I'm surrounded by South Africans so the bar is already pretty low, but I digress...

See an ENT if you're concerned.

What is he going to do, sniff it?
Sure, then he can sneeze up and down simultaneously
