I successfully connected to the ADSL2 profile.

Is that even possible? I just just fiddling with the modulation and I decided to try ADSL2, in the past it would not sync on ADSL2, does any one know why it's suddenly working?
 
Interesting, mine does not sync with just plain ADSL 2.
Only G.dmt and ADSL 2+

I am curious too now. What router are you using just BTW?

ADSL2+

ADSL2+ (ITU G.992.5) doubles the bandwidth used for downstream data transmission, effectively doubling the maximum downstream data rates, and achieving rates of 20 Mbps on telephone lines as long at 5,000 feet. ADSL2+ solutions will interoperate with ADSL and ADSL2, as well as with ADSL2+. ADSL2+ will include all the feature and performance benefits of ADSL2 while maintaining the capability to interoperate with legacy ADSL equipment.


So your router can sync at G.DMT, ADSL2 or ADSL2+. Syncing at ADSL2 just means you loose the ADSL2+ enhanced features...
And it means the setting on Telkom's side is on ADSL2+ on your port...

I can sync at G.DMT and ADSL2, but not ADSL2+
Setting on my port is G.DMT on Telkom's side...

Its a Netgear DGN2200V4, I forgot to mention that they did change the ESR card last week.

I don't have access myself, I know someone that works there (that actually has a brain hehe) so she checks everything for me. For her help she gets 30% discount at the retailer I work for :)

I am syncing at 10Mbit at home, I am able to get my line to sync on ADSL 2+ and G.dmt although when I previously tried to get it to sync at ADSL 2 it did not? I tried this with two different ADSL 2+ routers, both times with the same results. Tried it about a week or so apart, so not even on the same day :/

Wonder if it's not something to do with the modem, both my modems (dlink dsl-2500U and billion 5300) can connect at ADSL2. They are very old with firmware older than 6 years, maybe something on these old modems that allows them to sync at ADSL2. Haven't tried it with a newer modem. And my exchange is very old as well, only supports 4Mb adsl. So maybe something to do with old vs new exchanges as well.

But I do not use ADSL2 mode, getting to many superframe errors as the modes do not match up on both sides, so I just leave them on G.DMT

Hmm, I tried with a Billion 7300W and a Telkom Dlink 2750U. My exchange support 40Mbit VDSL.
It may very well be exchange related, that would make more sense than it being router related IMO. I obviously only use ADSL 2+
