Right, so this HD video thing on the 60D aint all easy by the looks of things.

I've tried to use it but get shocking results as it needs to keep focussing all the time. Probably I'm missing something. Does it matter that I'm using my 50mm prime?

Juggy, I think I read somewhere that AL servo AF is not allowed when shooting video. You have to do the work yourself. I've also read somewhere (heck my memory is bad) that you can't use a variable aperture zoom lens when shooting video if you want to change focal length.

I'll see if I have something on the 60D video.

He's using a prime though.

Yes, I just thought to add that whilst the topic was open.

Juggs - do you have a Mede8tor at all?

If so, does the player play the video?

Just curious

I will be testing but first, and for 9 grand I would've though they would include it, I need the mini hdmi to hdmi cable to play through my telly.

Tell you what, I am going to be uber bleak if the video function doesn't work easily so even my wife can use it.

I had an SX1 and my TViX wouldn't play the video files - which is very similar :(

I found it harder to use

Bliksem, tha is quite a contraption.

All I want is for it to work like a regular video camers and auto focus as I move around and change subjects.
You really should have paid more attention to the reviews, even the ones you did read. :D

The quality of video is insane, but you do have to put the effort in.

Everyone is a critic aren't they;) Ineeded a decent camera, this one came with video as an extra and I'd like to use it.

That's is fine, effort never hurt anyone and the missus can learn. I guess I need a dummies guide to using it as the manual and yes, I have read it isn't very detailed.

This is the single biggest gripe a have with Canon.
Nikon have auto focus in video mode on even their entry level DSLRs like the D3100 that works like a regular video camera.

Ok, it does play the .mov files but they're quite jittery. Not sure if I have a setting wrong on the camera though so still checking it out.

Thanks!

I think my SX1 had a different extension, so hopefully they've changed the movie part. It think I'll give mine a try too!

Apparently they're H.264 encoded whatever that means.

I hope my SD card isn't too slow to record properly.

For now I only have a type 6 4GB

Ja, been running a few more tests and it is quite jittery. Will have to figure out how to get rid of it.

Another thing is I can hear the lens focussing in the recording. That is a bit irritating.

Which 50mm are you using?

I think your best bet is going to be an external microphone of some sort. They make some nice directional ones that mount on the hot shoe.
