I'm synching at 384/128 but my download speeds are 35kb/s. The download speed only came into effect a days after syncing at 384/128 so give it a couple of days.

It looks like telkom is downgrading their 384k connections

What's syncing?

The data rate reported by your modem on its configuration page. In the past this was allways higher than your actual line rate namely 384k was 512/256 and 512k was 640/384 while 192k was 384/128

The only thing that sucks is that my ISP subscription is going up. I already received an email from my Cybersmart saying that they detected 384 and the subscription is going up.

Turn off router for a few minutes and turn it back on.. mine did the same. the 128k extra buffer seems to be gone. Yah.. funny enough i didn't get their email tho my friend did too.

i have been syncing on my 384k @ 512/256. now its slower this is acting just like my old 192k - this is not what i paying for!- we should complain!. But my guess telkom will say that this is correct...

what's your sig about? Is it a band?

Syncing is what happens when your modem/line connects and then it syncs at the exchange., it is the speed whereby it syncs

I think I am also upgraded, haven't checked the syncing, but I got ~40 KB/s download speed yesterday, and I use to get max 20 KB/s before ...

not that it really matters, 3 gigs are still 3 gigs at any speed!

I was just upgraded on Friday. 384/128 when I was syncing at 320/192 (with obvious soft throttling). Now I'm getting 362 down (effective) which is sweet compared to 160 (effective)!

the problem is i used to get upload speeds at +-32KB/s now my upload speeds are max 16KB/s

I wonder why they removed soft throttling? perhaps cause then people have to synch at an even higher rate ie 512kpbs.
