My clients are in europe and north america so on occasion I have to work in thier timezones, which for the last 2 days has meant working nights. So when it came to quitting time on the first night (about 3:15 AM) I noticed something funny happening with the connection, the line speed slowed to isdn speeds and the ping time went up to about 1096ms or there abouts. I figured it was just some iBurst problem untill the same thing happened about an hour ago (3:15 AM), so this time I stayed up to see what was happening, at first the line speed was bouncing and my test download had speeds of 8 - 20KB/s, I went to make some tea and when I came back.. the line speed was stuck fast at 64kbit, it hardly budged at all and the ping time to www.iburst.co.za was around 800 - 900ms. then a coupel minutes ago (4:15 AM) it was back to normal. It seems too much of a coincidence for it to be a normal iBurst problem. So could this be WBS testing the speed cap? anyone else noticed anything?

Hey slimothy, since around 4am till now (6am) ive eperienced the EXACT same thing. Any download wouldn't pull thru over 15kb/s. If i were lucky it would go to 20kb/s but for a short time only.

Probably someone sending a huge backup file somewhere and hogging all the bandwidth. (Possibly not even on the iBurst side of things, but their upstream ISP)

I was also getting intermittant degradation last night. I still think something is not quite right with Sandton BS since Tuesday, but it did seem to be network related rather than signal related. Maybe some testing in progress.

I didn't notice anything....but that may have been because I was at the Keg getting degradated :)

then why do you pay for it. I mean call me crazy but if my download was that bad I would use something else

Dial Up Modem Required Cheap

If on Iburst you cannot get more than 2 KB/s speak to someone..

Why suffer for weeks in silence.

This does not make (logical) sense.

Get a dial up connection. Call someone. Buy extra stamps.

dont just sit suffering.

My numbers are available.
