Every weekend now, over the last month or so, especially Sundays, I realize how much I miss gaming! Of course, I can't afford a gaming desktop now, since I have other priorities (like buying furniture... *sigh*). Now, a XBox is a bit more affordable I feel, but I haven't been seeing any deals as of late. I've seen Incredible Corruption selling the arcade for around R2300 or so, and Kalahari has the Pro at the nice price of R2700. Problem is, then I'd still need to get games and whatnot, which would jack up the actual price a fair amount.

Does anyone know about any bundles like that buy the pro for R3600 and get 4 games with, or something, from a while ago? I'm a bit desperate by now :o
 
why not get the current Telscum deal ..... Arcade with 5 games .......
 
yeah, but it's only like a R105 or something a month on the phone bill ..... ;)
 
Don't see anything on Telkom's site. Then again, it may be because their site is kinda rubbish... :p
 
Hmmm...think I'll rather save up a bit and get the Kalahari console then... Not even sure if I'm going to be in the country in 2 years ;)
 
i saw, a few weeks back, an arcade console with the memory stick and 5 arcade games for R1899, normally they go for R1999
 
You do know you can get a 4850 for R2000 or a 9600GT for R1400 right?

Then you get games for 350 instead of R700.

because a gfx card on it's own does wonders for gaming ....... he can't afford a PC, not a card.
 
the only reaosn i havent bought that telkom xbox is because some on this forum have said it a refurb. which i completely belive seeing as its telkom. not worth the risk imo.
 
Messugga, You don;t have to pay R600-R700 for a game. After you get the console go visit http://www.xbox-360.co.za/forum/index.php and check out the marketplace section where guys trade and sell games. Think you haveta register and login before you will see the marketpalce threads. Also visit BTGames and AWX, the also sell pre-played games.

seems to be a Gauteng thing ........ mine isn't a refurb. Actually, it was only one or two peeps in total who said they think theirs was a refurb.
 
how can i check whether its a refurb. i live in kimberley and would buy it (get it on that contract thingy whatever) if it was one of the new consoles. and is it the arcade? how come it comes with a wireless controlelr et al?
 
hmmm ..... mebbe PM the chaps who might have more info about checking if it's a refurb or not (maestro_za and doobiwan spring to mind). I think all the new ones have an HDMI port on the back, so that is possibly one way of checking. It is the Arcade ..... mine came with 2x wireless controllers ..... suppose it's just up to Telscum to what they 'bundle'.

I'd say if you're on a budget then get the pro, and check BT Games for pre-played games (starts from R99 upwards, I think). Check their website.

And if you don't need the absolute latest games then you could always get the Xbox classics (typically between R199-R299 from most places). Assassin's Creed just went classic, I picked it up for R249 on Friday :)
 
Thanks a lot for the replies guys! Yeah, it sucks a bit, but I'm on a budget. Ideally I wouldn't spend ANY money on entertainment, but it's getting a bit much now, so I'm thinking I should probably take the plunge and invest in something that'll keep me happy for a relatively low upkeep. I don't mind playing older games at all! I haven't gamed in like 4 years now... Feel like I have a LOT of catching up to do with Oblivion, Forza, etc etc. A steering wheel might be a really nice addition since I love racing games but I think I'll get someone to buy me that for Christmas or something...
Anyone want to buy a lung or a kidney? I hear you only need one to survive. I'll give it to you for a good price ;)
