i20 vs. Accent

God it is funny seeing all these people insecure about their sexuality! :p

As for my recommendations - I certainly did not work for VW when writing here - I have owned many in my life and drove for VWSA, so yes, I am partial to them.

Subaru - I still work for Subaru, but they don't have a car in the 150k range unless you are looking at a 5 year old Forester....

As for Fiat - I have owned several, and am very impressed by the 500 range - brilliant on safety, finish and economy.

Citroen - never owned any, but I like what I see in the new DS range - I am a South African who can remove my blinkers and buy a car despite it being European - I actually read overseas reports and trust them more than listening to some drunk ass hole at the pub spewing carp about French cars all being rubbish.

I really don't give a toss what the OP buys - I would just like some people around here stop acting like Lemmings and buying Korean because it's the done thing to do.

Have the balls to look at other makes and choose something that performs well and is 'right" for your circumstances. It may well be a Korean in the end, but your manhood will be more intact, having made the decision for yourself, rather than relying on a bunch of fanbois pushing their product of choice.

Is that straight enough?? ;)

Let me start off with saying, I have never owned a Fiat.

A friend of us however did own a Fiat, bought second-hand and the costs of repairs on that thing was very, very steep. Maybe that his changed in recent years, but I will check that before buying.

I would check this for any car make that I am interested in. If you do not have a maintenance plan this can really hurt your pocket. This is also my currently problem with a French made car, very nice car, very expenses to repair.

Hey maybe I am silly in thinking maintenance cost must be a factor to consider when buying, including the insurance for the car, licenses fees, fuel costs etc....... and not just what make the cars is, how the car looks and who girly it will make you look :p

What is it with all these "guys" buying girls cars??!
and then suddenly, out of nowhere :

I can't speak for what's under the hood, but as far as looks go you might as well buy a Ford Ka. LAWL

You don't get much queerer than this :

It looks like a dog squatting to take a crap.

Yeah well in SA that is buying a German car. The done thing or whatever.

I don't quite get the fuss over the Fiat 500 either. Is there some sort of fad behind it? Looks like something Daewoo would have produced.

Can get Kia Rio from about R150 000. Long waiting list however due to high demand and low supply

There's just no accounting for lack of taste...:(

Yes, because Subaru's and Toyota's are the most tasteful machines out there :wtf:

Car salesmen... all the same.

I drove the new 2013 1.6 Accent as a rental this week. It's got all the features - Bluetooth, full trip computer, electric windows etc... the list goes on, but its steering is horrible. Feels like driving a toy. There's no solid feeling to the car.

Hyundai have come a far way in terms of interior quality though, the dash is solid!

Ja - I guess we are - paint us all with the same brush, no room for deviation from your own set idea of what we are like...

FTR - I like TWO Toyotas - the Prado and the 86 - on the Subaru front I like the Forester, the BRZ and the XV - you can keep the WRX and STi - ALL of the cars I have mentioned are particularly strong on the engineering side, which appeals to me far more than the bling/looks factor. I have a massive problem selling a car that does not appeal to me in that respect - we are also allowed to sell Jeep, but I do not respect the package as it's offered in SA, and as a result, I will only sell one to a person who really wants THAT car - certainly not because I have talked him/her into the car.

So....if that makes me a "typical" car salesman in the fantasy world of brawler, then so be it. However, in the real world, I am not, and never will be a typical car salesman - I'm in the job because I need a job at this stage of my life, and I like a couple of the cars that I'm allowed to sell. If I was 20 years younger, there is no way in hell that I would be doing what I'm doing now.

Don't believe the 1st dealer you speak with. I started looking for a Rio 1.4 Tec last Monday and after phoning about 20 or so dealerships managed to find the color (Signal red) that my wife wanted in Standerton. Picked it up on Saturday and I must say it's a very nice little car.
Silver, Brown, Charcoal, Black or Beige were also all available at some of the other dealerships I phoned.
None of the GP or KZN dealers had and they all had pretty long waiting lists.

Here (LINK) is, what I believe to be, an i20. Although I like the i20, it doesn't seem to be very sturdy :D

Especially if you think the correct response to an elephant storming you is stop the vehicle and switch it off....
