Sup All,

I recently bought 3 desktops that where supposed to have i7-2600k CPUs. When I check in MyComp Properties it just shows i7-2600... Im not sure if Im remembering correctly but i think the last i7-2600k build I did actually said i7-2600k in the properties.

If you have this proc in your PC please can you upload a screenshot of yr MyComp Properties, I really dont want to have to strip the PCs just to find out that they really are i7-2600k cpu's in there.

Cheers!

CPUID CPU-Z will tell you exactly what is in there...

Download and run CPU-Z on the computers, this will let you know exactly what the chips are.

Shot, CPU-Z would do the trick, im just away from the client for the week and its bugging me. Screenshot would put my mind at ease for a bit until I get back to the client.

grrrrr, thats what I thought about the 2600k.... there's a distributor looking for serious fight if those CPUs are not 2600k's!!!

h61 with a 2600k what is the use to buy a overclocking cpu if the motherboard does not support it :/

ok, so then its better if its just the 2600? Perhaps they did me a favour and saved me from my own dumb.

The only reason to get the i7 2600k + H61 would be for the faster integrated GPU, because the i7 2600k has an HD3000, where as the i7 2600 has the HD2000. For a work environment, you won't really notice the difference between the HD2000 & HD3000.

Shot, so would have been a waste of money on my part as I put HD6770's in them as well, trying to spec for CAD and Revvit. Did it in a bit of a rush as well, eish. Client seems happy though, easy enuf job as the pc's i replaced were all about 6 years old.

I think next time ill post on here, been a while since I played with Hardware.

Shot for checking, appreciate it.

What did it say on the invoice? There is a price difference.

For CAD/Rivot it was most likely worth it getting the HD6770's - depending on how big their designs are.

I hope you installed 8-16GB of RAM in those machines as well.

Nope, only 4GB. If they start to run short on mem ill upgrade to 8.
