I'm confused, perhaps someone would care to explain.

Currently I have a 1GB iBurst Wireless subscription through MWEB (all I can afford as a student :( ).

I chose iBurst for two main reasons, a) Telkom gave my area the middle finger after out cables got stolen for the 10th time in a year, so no ADSL. b) The 64K throttled option. ;)

At the moment, my 1 gig keeps me going for the 1st 7 days of the month, after that, I'm on 64k. It works, I like it the way it is.

The way I understand it is, these new packages only affects new subscribers and those who choose to upgrade. And I, can remain on my current month-to-month package and my 64k throttled option will not be affected, am I correct? :erm:

I've been looking at the new packages and as far as I'm concerned it's the biggest bull**** baffles brains scheme I have ever seen in my life. What the hell is the subscription fee for? I've never had to pay a subscription fee before, it just looks like a way to create the illusion of cheaper data to me.

And if I choose to upgrade, I would have to pay for the 5 gig package, to be awarded the "privilege" of paying extra for the 64K option. Kinda makes you sick don't it?

I would like someone from iBurst itself to have the balls to come out and explain to us in detail exactly how they have become more competitive and how we would be saving on these new packages.

I haven't seen anything about the option of staying on the old 1gig package dgcarter. Could you point me to where it states that. I am going to cancel my iworst contract if i dont have the option of the old package. Am already looking at telscums package 2 for adsl.

I saw somewhere on this forum that iBurst users can "downgrade" back to the package that gives you 64k throttled after the cap. The iBurst CEO himself said so in reply to a post.

I saw that post as well Prof. Cant remember which one it was. I sent a pm to the guy who posted that but had no response from him yet.

thanks for the link Dusk... at least its something we can take to them

lol i bookmarked it too
anyone know when can we "downgrade" to the old package?

You mean upgrade to your old package, don't you? :p

If iWorst can't even reply to an email, measure usage accurately or 'migrate' users without it looking almost as bad as if they're trying to divide by zero, how are they going to 'downgrade' you without any glitches? I gave up. iWorst cancellation submitted, SAOL application in the works.

To anyone who is thinking about getting iBurst: just don't.

ZombiePriest,
What can we do to retain you as a subscriber?

I have escalated the issue about the "old" packages with the 64 kb/s throttle to the CEO and will provide feedback as soon as it is received.

That's a noble idea, but I don't want iBurst for free.

Im sorry to say this... but no matter how many times you escalate this, we still do not get any response.

I am still awaiting a call back or even a message saying that my query with regard to this very same matter is being handled.

Still awaiting feedback to the escalation but the previous throttle that was used on the older packages is still in place on the new equivalent packages till the end of February.

That doesnt help too much Roland. Either way we will have to give one months notice. I would rather give my one months notice this month so Feb will be my last month with throttles service.

I dont want to sit in march with no throttle service and pay for something i dont want. Rather move to another service provider that really does offer more for less should iburst not allow the old packages.

I also want to stay on the old package with the throttle option for free, this paying R199 for 64K throttle is flippin' ridiculous!

While you are at it Gcebile, try and retain me too because my contract still shows that it will expire in 2037!!!!! For 2 months now with no resolution, I don't trust my usage stats from I-Burst, never mind not getting any e-mails showing me the usage.... Please sort it out and leave me on the old package with the throttle after Feb. Otherwise, I will start looking at legal ways to be released from the contract so that I can go ADSL rather, a much better option right now than the poor service of I-Burst.

It's actually a disgrace that I-Burst make the headline news page of mybroadband.co.za with the stroy about how cr@ppy the service has become.... It's a disgrace!

The feedback is that during February you will be able to log a call and be migrated back to the old package with a lower cap that includes the throttled service if that is your preference.

Do you honestly think it will be as smooth as that?! I have a feeling it will be chaos just like everything else. For example, I choose to stay on the old package but they will keep me on the new package anyway because it is easier and more cost effective for them. Then when you call their Service Desk, guess what, nobody can help, nobody calls you back, you get cut off or hung up on (like I had many times) or one of their managers will just shout at you, even better. Viva I-Burst your bubble!

I will rather pay R199 for 1GB + 64kbps service than R198 for the new "Wireless 2" package.

Then I just pay an extra R69 per GB to top up. I'll be phoning iBurst in the middle of February to make the change.

The problem is that iBoss is going to get all confused again when people start phoning again to change back their packages.

Therefore another 3 months of crap again from iBurst.

The 2037 expiry date is a system error our system engineers are working on it.
Please send me your iBurst account number or username, thanks.
