iBurst ad pokes fun at Chinese BEE

...bunch of idiots working at iBurst, but that we know already - hopefully they will seek some professional public relations advice in future.

boo@ iPoop. strange when some groups complain everyone runs around and when one group does the same their racists? strange life......

Just hilights how ridiculous BEE is... chinese have to call themselves black to get equal opportunities...

Well, that's not entirely accurate. They just have to call themselves non-white. <sarky :) >

I wonder if we can also call ourselves black and just tell everyone we're albino

great yet another uninformed who thinks he knows the situation... if you don't know the situation then you should STFU.

Next you going to tell me every chinese foreign national is also BEE.

So, you can insult everybody and then simply remove the ad, no repercussions.
Lekka!

(no i'm not saying that IBust did insult everybody, i'm just saying that you can)

iBurst submitted arguments on the merits of the matter, but also confirmed that the commercial would not be used again in future.

if only iburst could confirm that their overall bad business sense would not be used again in the future

"South African-born Chinese citizens"

Well, i am also born in South Africa yet we get treated like europeans.
I grumble when they ask me 'so where are you actually from' cause people
not born in this country but from this continent seem to be more advantaged
than those born in a depression they had no say about!

+1 to that!

To the ignorant peanut gallery:
S.African's of Chinese descent were always classified as non-white under Apartheid. The recent high court ruling was a clarification of the generic definition of 'black' contained in the EEA act of 1998 and BBBEE act of 2003.

Do not conflate S.African born Chinese with Taiwanese or Mainland China foreign nationals!! The only thing they all have in common is their ancestors living in China, 60 to 150 years ago.

I wouldn't call iBurst retracting the ad 'everyone running around'.

Also, if u r referring to the Lesley Stones (Weekender?)/White Supremest saga, they should be taken to the Human Rights Commission.

Wong Ho lodged a consumer complaint against the iBurst radio commercial with the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa (ASA), saying that the commercial was demeaning to South African-born Chinese citizens as it reflected misconceptions that any Chinese person may benefit from the new classification of South African born Chinese.

They are benefitting... they getting jobs over white people... there is no misconception there...?

Edit...
ahhh the statement makes sense to me now, my mistake
