So, I decide to take the plunge and connect to IBurst. Buy a second hand modem on 30.09.05. Call Iburst and they tell me that the people who do the telephone applications is not in I must call on Saturday after 09.30. Not a problem

So I call on Saturday. Listen to the recording saying immediate connection after the application is filled out... Me thinks COOL:D So this guy gets on the phone and asks me if he can fax me the form I say I have no fax no problem there.

Then when he asked if I have internet  I just let rip why the hell would I be calling if I had internet:mad: I say I wanna do it over the phone he says
Eish, the people who do over the phone applications is not in at the moment
So naturally I ask when they will be in so I can call back.

They only work from Monday to Friday

So Monday I call again and they tell me I will be connected by COB. But oh no now they want my modem's ID which I give to them on Tuesday. Then I get a call from them saying my modem that reads Iburst is actually a WBS modem and they have to get permission to use it.

Got a call Wednesday morning at about 10AM telling me it will be connected within an hour and half. Guess what... It's Thursday and still not connected.

I probably misunderstood
immediate connection after the application is filled out

I went to sharedirect. Filled in the form, got the UTD from them and by the time I got home (about 45min) I could connect no problem. :D

If you are phoning wbs directly try phoning a reputable reseller instead.

I went to Nashua Broadband first. Filled out the papers (they wanna know more details than when I took out a loan). I filled in how often I have sex and if I had a sexchange in the last six months etc.

But when I called them they told me it takes 48 hrs  to connect so that's why I went directly to Iburst.

I bought directly from WBS and was connected by the time the modem was delivered (approx 8 hours).

My advice is to call WBS and ask to speak to someone with authority and get the to sort it. I am sure you got the names of those you dealt with.

I bought from a reseller on a Saturday. Went to pick it up round about 11h30 in Centurion. By the time I got back home (30min - 45min) everything was in order.

I only have one PC to connect. Feel free to supply me with extra PC'S for Free:D
:D

If you have NIC on your PC use it, no drivers needed on on WinXP just create a PPPoE connection.

You need drivers for 2000.

Ok, that went right over my head.... What is NIC and how do you create PPPoE connection? I can build a PC , but am no good at networking. The closest I ever did was direct connection through 2 PC'S and that took me about a day each time I did it.

Ok it seems like half the country is selling IBusts. Wont they at least drop the data tarrifs and the modem prices a bit? Its frikken HECTIC!!

On your network connection,
-click on create a new connection
-New wizard will come up, click on next
-Under network conection type, click connect to the internet
-Click on next and choose setup my connection manually
-Then choose 'connection that requires a username and password'
-Under ISP name [u can put in WBS or any ****]
-for the username have it with the domain
and the rest is history
then start downloading at 100Mbps [if u use NIC - Network Interface Card]

Cool that sound nice,
But what about those with 24months contract, will their subscription also come down?

LOL... so we all agree that iBurst or WBS is ***, but their re-sellers have some spark? I phoned 4 re-sellers when I signed up 6 months ago, and not one called back. So I went direct. Must say, was connected when I got home, very impressed... got bad, got pissed off... cancelled today... and now it's time to get even: http://www.hellopeter.com/details.asp?id=43461

Getting a modem through a reseller is still the best opinion.
