iBurst has beefed up its coverage with new base stations across the country.
HSDPA is an extension to the 3G-R99 standard, and the form of HSDPA currently available from both Vodacom and MTN runs at a maximum speed of 1.8Mbits/s, whereas iBurst SA's iBurst service currently runs at a maximum speed of 1Mbits/s, furthermore, last year, Vodacom allowed most Vodacom customers to exchange their existing vanilla-3G data cards for HSDPA data cards, so there will be very few Vodacom customers using vanilla-3G data cards.“Improved coverage in KwaZulu-Natal means that growing numbers of Durbanites are replacing their snail-paced dial-up Internet connections and switching to hair-raising iBurst speeds up to 17 times faster than dial-up and up to 3 times faster than 3G,” iBurst said.
I really don't know what Thami is trying to prove there - it's like saying 'before computers existed, cave-people would have thrown an iBurst modem into the nearest fire', although I'm sure there are many evolved people that still feel like throwing their iBurst modem into the nearest fire...“While we know that Isie Smuts would sit underneath the family portraits and listen to the radio, we don’t know how she would have taken to wireless broadband. However, it’s likely the children would have shown her how to download her husband’s emails from Winston Churchill,” joked Thami Mtshali, CEO of iBurst, about the Irene base station.
up to 17 times faster

So Thami Mtshali's statement about iBurst being "up to 3 times faster than 3G" sounds a lot like the tactics employed by Telkodemonopolies when claiming that its ADSL was much faster than HSDPA...
Furthermore, iBurst SA's pricing for 2GB and less is much more expensive than Vodacom's 2GB and less pricing.
iBurst sounds like it is yet again trying to pull the wool over the eyes of unenlightened consumers.I really don't know what Thami is trying to prove there - it's like saying 'before computers existed, cave-people would have thrown an iBurst modem into the nearest fire', although I'm sure there are many evolved people that still feel like throwing their iBurst modem into the nearest fire...
I've seen a HSDPA connection @ 3.6Mbit/s
Not in SA, max speed is currently 1.8Mbit/s, although some modems support 3.6Mbit/s.
I think I shall use the term "IBIWISI" here...![]()
plz man a few customers of mine very rarely get more than 10kbs a second with iburst
Because...but why did you sell it to them if it was so bad in their area?
For me or for iBurps?![]()
