iBurst Firmware Update(s)

no, it means you are using the latest firmware that was finalised on that date, you got upgraded sometime between tuesday and now.

The update was performed automatically. The connection dropped for 5 min, but reconnected on its own.

The date displayed next to the version number is not the date of installation.

I am experiencing speeds not yet seen, and am amazed that the connection has only dropped once today. Hopefully we are back to what we had in Nov as year! Hope I have not jinxed it.

Spoke with some of the guys at WBS, and they tell me these upgrades will last until Tuesday next week. They are also upgrading some of the towers. From Tuesday they hope to have everything done, as the Asian Engineers jump on their planes home

22/2/2005 is a version number?? OK, well things have certainly changed since I last used a computer... yesterday.

sorry, forgot I need to spell it out for you:
My version reads 1106C022,
with the date 22/2/2005.
Better? :p

dont worry man we all knew what you meant, we just like to hate you cuz you're a dirty mac head

My UTD was automatically updated over the air (I certainly didnt do anything).
Software Version : 1106C022 Date : 22/02/2005
Running Windows XP with USB connected UTD in Bryanston base station.

I have NEVER previously achieved 100% nor 5 lights. Since a few days ago I get up to 98% and very often get 5 lights. Just downloaded at 87 KBytes/sec. Have they fixed Bryanston, or has firmware upgrade fixed this? Either way I am a lot happier.

PS - Just tested with omni-directional antennae on loan. This makes signal WORSE.
With omni I get max 40% signal and max 3 lights !!

Ummm, please describe this antenna (physical appearance) & assuming you got it from/via WBS what name have they given it?

I ask bcos AFAIK WBS do NOT have omni-directional external antennas - they only have 1-direction antennas (so I was told by WBS).

I don't see any updated files on the Iburst site yet. Those ones date back to October.

Since my modem is 30m away at the end of an ethernet cable, I guess I'm going to struggle to get the new firmware loaded. Think I'm going to have to borrow someone's laptop...

Question: Will the update have any impact on Ethernet connections? Or does it simply enhance Terminal software and USB connection?

The update seems to have stablised the connection. Speeds are way better than b4. (touch wood)

It is the round hockey Puck - sticker says IBU1000 Distcom Antenas, S.L.
Maybe it is not an omni-directional? But it hasnt helped my signal one bit, I was better off without it.

That a directional fuddy-duddy-antenna, there should be a red arrow - someone said that you need to point the arrow in the direction of your preferred/only base-station.

Nope - no red arrow (or any colour arrow)
I moved it around/horizontal/vertical/rotated - which affects signal but antenna still not as good as standard UTD (after firmware update and unknown Bryanston fix)
