Okay guys you know Iburst Australia is now flat and dead, due to the **** speeds and connection issues with overload also they had no future, they could only do so much (dated, limited tech) while the world around them upgraded endlessly. Sound familiar? All that being said,no sign or voice of Iburst SA stepping up to its customers saying how they will improve the connections or speed status ???? I think we are all going down with the ship.

I'm thinking of getting them for home use. I just need a stable RDP connection and some gaming now and then. My cousin uses it and he plays games fine.

Eventually iBurst is going to become one of those dorpie ISP's that has no real presence in any major city or hub. They will likely cater for farms with their dated technology. They have, over and over, demonstrated their inability to bill correctly, or run a reliable network, or even acknowledge and identify their own problems in a timely manner. Other ISP's laugh at IBurst - i know because a few years ago when I interviewed at one of the prominent ones, they shared their pity for me and the fact that i was using iBurst at the time. Hands down, the worst ISP in the country, a terrible run business, and with a limited lifespan left.

got sick and tired of crappy and variable speeds and left ibust earlier this year

even with the dated technology if they do things right they can still survive.
Those of us still with them they do offer a decent product 1-4Mb (combination of modems) speeds though currently this is very sporadic and most users having less then 50% speeds available.
If they can fix the folowing im sure they can still keep going for a while, 1- is hardware cost, short of subsidising 24 months contracts 2K plus for a modem is ridiculous - if you plainong on going 2 modems plus load balancing router , adding acesorise like antenaes etc gets expensive
2- billing problems, this is a constant, i have been ok after quite a heated argument when Jannie was still at Iburst, thankfully not one problem since, but i see still alot of new customers are put off by this and leave.
3- a help desk that cant asist ever! always blames the customer when clearly they are the problems
4- lack of towers / coverage and too many subscribers on one tower.
5 - no consistency of service, you go month to month form great surfing to crap dial up speeds

there cost isnt too bad curently, and if you know how piece your package and usage corectly you can end up maximising your download amount to something similar to what a person on an uncapped ADSL acount can do at a lower price

The last couple of weeks have been bad, but before then I got average to decent speeds from them, also without the ability to really get any other form of connectivity at home they were pretty much my only choice and at a reasonable cost to.

Not to mention the utter lack of support on this forum and on their FB page. It is beyond pathetic, honestly.
Come to think of it, what support? There has been none for months now, only the useless usual BS stories of "There are no known issues, blah, blah, blah.......".

I wonder why they don't just tell the public what is going on, give us hope you know? I heard iburst LTE somewhere.....or is that all bs like your device prices and connection speed? Release some statement something for us to chew on until then. I don't even think you care anymore. Dam iburst

My biggest issue with iBurst has always been with their call-centre, otherwise, when I stated using iBurst I had a idea of what I was getting myself into, and was pleasantly suprised with what I got overall.

To my knowledge, iBurst has been offering the best price per gig for years now (excluding some cell-c deals perhaps).

The reality now however is that uncapped 1mbps DSL is around R450 (all inclusive), the same that I pay for my 50gig cap at iB.
Uncapped, better latency with zero jitter and at the same price is VERY appealing to me, even though I only used up my cap once, maybe twice.

I consider myself pretty loyal towards iBurst, but I am seriously considering jumping ship soon. I won't sell off my modem just yet though.

Agreed I like iburst I think I'm in that comfort zone that its just become normal to browse the web at dial up speeds. :wtf:

I had been with ibust since 2005 (I still have my old PCMCIA modem), initially I was happy with them, but as 3G improved and switching to HSDPA, and also eventually for business reasons needing a fixed line (ADSL), I suddenly realised just how bad they had become (especially when I started using my 3G modem in my PC because ibust was just too slow and erratic) even with an outdoor antenna installed.

I'm happy with iBurst, never had issues with my connectivity, always got full speed, wish i could say the same about their accounts department though, they still offer the most competitive package value for money data offering so no reason to jump ship yet.

Here is what i don't get, every-time such topics come up the is always some individuals flaming iBurst about poor service (some i agree with) and the reason for them jumping the boat yet they still hanging around the iBurst forum, i dont get that i wish someone could explain it to me..

I'm much pissed off at Telkom hence i left them, but i dont hang around their forum, i dont see the purpose because anything i will comment on about them will be negative, why throw my reasons at those happy with the service?

the OP asked for opinions on iburst's future, surely that entitles people to voice their opinion whether they are still with iburst or not? and actually as an ex iburster I don't hang around the iburst thread, I picked up on this in the Today's Posts section of the forum which is where I usually decide which thread I want to participate in

How would you feel if you had a decent connection and no speed related issues for almost 10 years from iBurst then one day all you can get is dial-up speeds and iBurst literally gives you the finger every time you complain?

We first had a 1Mb modem when we stayed on the ground floor of a block of flats and had no issues whatsoever. Regularly had close to and above 1Mb/s 24 hours a day.
Then we moved into a house, and got the 2Mb modem 2 years ago. All was hunky dory with no speed issues at all (2+Mb/s during the day, during rainy weather etc) and I used to rave about the 2Mb modem being the next best thing to sliced bread. Sadly in December 2011, everything went for a loop and I lost my raving ability.

Loads of complaining (3 months of complaining, I might add), and Mel sorted out a flat panel antenna installation as we flat out refused to pay for the antenna as it was their network problem and not ours.

While we are extremely grateful for that, speeds were still not back to where they used to be and for 11 months now, all we get is excuses and lies as to why we do not get the speed we used to get.

Now tell me you will not be just slightly ticked off if that had to happen with you after being loyal customers for 10+ years?

I still hang around here as we still use iBurst (unfortunately) as they want us to pay over R6000 to cancel our contract yet we pay 800 bucks a month for dial-up speeds and have been doing so since December 2011. Before that we were only too happy to pay that amount of money as we were getting brilliant speeds.
In March 2013 however, our contract comes up for renewal (which we will NOT be renewing) and then I will leave this place for good and hang around elsewhere on this forum.

I think it's best to keep attention on iburst and not other forum users...probably since your with Telkom and browsing the iburst forum as a good example. We just want what is promised to us that all. It's not a lot to ask. @ bursty dude ouch, man I'm sorry that would piss me off everyday.

Guys, i think you missing my point, surely if iBurst is not sorting out their issues (& they have them) their future is definitely gloom with all cheaper, better & faster providers out there

Ol' Mean Bastid , some of the comments on this thread have nothing to do with contributing but flaming iBurst as a provider, you are an ex subscriber and freely providing your experience is most appreciated, that's constructive support, unfortunately this is not shared by most ex subscribers

Bursty-dude, Ouuucch i feel for you, this is just one of the things iBurst need to sort out, if i were you i would definitely not be renewing my contract, they want to keep your business, then they need to provide what they promised, which they are clearly failing on

Your right. I just wish everyone could just drop iburst and they could start jumping and realizing what is actually wrong.

I think there's a mixture of reasons for us posting in threads like this - possibly one of them is hoping (most likely in vain, seeing the lack of response here) that iBurst will actually listen to us and make a plan. But I think it's pretty obvious that it's a ship without engines and it's only a matter of time before it sinks - they seem incapable of fixing anything, from technical issues to accounts. My only concern right is where to go after iBurst. I don't want to pay Telkom their blood money for that 'connection' for ADSL, so I need to stay wireless. 8ta apparently has quite good deals, but the last press releases I saw seemed to indicate that Telkom wasn't awfully happy with profits...so how long will those details last? And Neotel...well, a guy at work actually had to *shock! Horror!* eat Humble Pie and go back to Telkom after Neotel gave him such c r a p service with equipment that didn't work, connection problems and more. Maybe a better thread to start here, seeing as iBurst doesn't seem to pay much attention, is what are the alternatives to iBurst, and what are your experiences with that ISP?
