iburst has bad speeds and support - DO NOT PURCHASE IT!!!

well,

with all due respect, thing at iBurst are a lot beter than last year.
We can only hope that they continue to improve, and deliver service as promised

@halicon

DSL is the ther option....

See you in those frums bitching about "2Month install times" "Radius server failures every weekend", "International down *again*" "bad latency" "kuk speeds"

there is no such thing as the better evil.. they are all bad.

I dont think your thread title is really that appropriate dude. This is the thrid time youve posted the same thing when you could talk about in one of the other threads youve made.

Everyone knows about your problem, misleading people like this isnt cool, not everyone is going to experience your speeds. Infact you seem to have a prety specific problem, many other new users would experience great speeds. They dont need to be totally put off dude.

And their support has just got better, obviously with a arb problem like your the low-level techs and phone support arent ging to be able to offer you great support. I dont think you would get any better if not worse support from any other ISP or internet supplier.

Oh, but your topic.. um sentech could be cool with the cap, only if you have a good signal though. Also you dont want to go through your Iburst experience again though, maby just stick to ADSL, it will be more consistent.
And things are only improving on the ADSL field, ISP's atre quick to come up with great solutions and Telkom is testing wimax etc.

Go with dsl. If you need the mobility 3g's been working great since Jan (speeds seem to improve every week)

i give up.

dsl or sentech ?

Drama Queen hahahaha

Hmmmmmmmm shame that must suck.Tough luck. The title is damaging though, they mght just take legal action.
Maybe it should read Halicon light years ahead not suitably fit for iBurst......hahahahahaha

Maybe your antenna facing away from the base station *i wouldn't be surprised  * :D just some advice use it don't use it.

I have also been checking out Sentech

@ Ekhaatvensters..is there coverage in Bergvliet? They don't advertise speeds...they just say :'here, here's a cap' basically  so what's the deal?

There are speeds, you were looking at the new mini packages or whatever they call them. They have hard-caps and go at up to 512 kb..i think, not shure.

Sentech is 128kb R499 (10GB soft cap, usually you can go over i believe, also this is month to month, modems are quite a bit mor ethan Iburst ones)
then 256kb with 20GB soft cap and 512kb with 40GB, not shure about the prices for those.

I looked at this when I was getting broadband, but they dont cover bergvliet at all at the moment. In any case the thing is that speeds can apparently be pathetic, and on 128 kb pathetic is slower than dial-up, so ja... Service and help is also supposed to suck, but if it works well for you then I'm geussing its great with the high caps. and everythings unshaped, sounds ideal but apparently isnt.

What are the bad speeds?
I see you complaining but what exactly is the problem? Give me a factual summary because like others I get great speeds.
As recommended I also recently implemented a download manager for large files and I've been getting fantastic downloads speeds (thanks Ekhaatvensters) . Surfing is great. I could not ask for more.

I just looked at one of your other posts Halicon and it says
"Your line speed is approximately 206.1 Kbps or 25.3 kBytes/sec"

I agree with this but in another post of mind I found out that downloads
(http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=42386)
seem to be limited to near your claimed 206.1 Kpbs. However when I use a download manager I get in excess of 1024Kpbs. Or if you download multiple things at once you can take full advantage of your 'broadband' connection to do a 'broad' range of tasks.
I don't really think saying your line speed is 206.1Kpbs really justifies how fast it actually is. I can get the max speed out of it so can others. Using some speed test software is not giving you an accurate result.
I think you may not be happy because you want a web page or a download to be at 1024kpbs.
That's just not going to happen.
Try download 3 things at once and you'll see your line speed rocket.

This is the point I was trying to make in the other thread. Posting in 10 different places doesn't help anyone that is trying to find out exactly what the problem is and how best to resolve it.

-edit- Just to add. No further posts have been made in the previous thread where we were trying to see if your problem is a general area problem, or one specific to you. Perhaps if we (the forum) get that info someone here can help out.

Looking in the positive column of posts like this, I can see:
"Discourages uptake of Iburst, so I can enjoy lower congestion on my tower for longer."

So if Halicon wants to vent, let him.

But if user base goes up we could see price cuts. Now that would be something. The more money they have the morte the *can* (probably wont) spend on us and improving the service.

there has been quite a bit of iburst growth lately and now we see tons of new towers coming up, a new call-canter and maby 2Mb/s?
Okay this is cause of that take over, but if iburst was going down there wouldnt have been interest in a take over.
So Id rather promote Iburst than call it **** all the time when theres a problem.
