iBurst - iGame Beta Testing

This could be interesting...............a whole lot of crippled "Call of Duty" players.:sick:

iStorm with the co operation of iBurst have been field testing a number of new gaming related services internally.

Internal to their LAN i guess. I've never seen 90-110 on iBurst. Maybe if your sitting under the tower on new years eve and Eskom takes out the rest of the country :D

If iBurst focused on delivering a proper, reliable, affordable "dedicated" internet service there wouldn't be a need for a dedicated gaming service - which i assume will be at a premium on top of your standard iBurst costs.

60% of the time I'm relatively satisfied with iBurst, if they just sorted out all their crap and delivered I would (in theory) be pretty happy. Its just when they throw crap like this out there and shove added proxies and screw things up whenever they have a "bright idea" that I want to freakout.

Then again I'm finishing up my 12m contract and moving to a m2m, i'll see how many times they screw that up in the next few weeks. So I may be less nice later after they screw it up.

90-110 is normal, bad actually for most local sites.

Could we get the rest of this info soon, I wouldn't mind beta testing. I've never really bothered with FPS gaming on iBurst but something better for DotA would help.

Here you go LandyMan:

Hi Everyone, Read the responses and I appreciate the governing sentiment towards the current situation.

In Respect to the service in General:

iStorm with the co operation of iBurst have been field testing a number of new gaming related services internally.
Tests have been run on the following titles :

COD 4 Average Ping of 90 - 110
Battlefield 2 Average Ping of 65 - 90
Battlefield 2142 Average Ping of 70 - 100

Amongst others.

With successful initial tests , the process has been elevated to external Beta testing for a period of 2 weeks to one month .
With live launch expected during February.

The structure relating to iGame is not the same as other iBurst services.
iStorm will be handling all First tier support relating to both servers and the gaming service in general.
The service includes monthly tournaments with sponsored prizes from Ideazon , Razr and a number of other harware and peripheral manufacturers.

Hence the dedicated gaming and server support connected to iGame.
When fully launched after the initial Beta testing, iGame will boast 24 dedicated gaming servers , hosted internally with direct access to the SA Backbone.
With a fully integrated and specifically formulated bandwidth and access packages to follow shortly after initial launch

This service is attempting to change or rather amend the current sentiment to establish the iBurst ISP network as a viable gaming solution.

To me it looks like a s/w company using the forum for unsolicited advertising, but since the 'details are pending', I will make a decision when details make themselves available...

It sounds like he will be asking for beta testers, and there isn't really any better place. But there is a lot of advertising/"explaining" done inbetween.

iGame is a dedicated online gaming service available exclusively to iBurst subscribers.
With Monthly tournaments and full gaming support, iGame, a combined project by iBurst and iStorm, is focused on Giving gamers the best service available.

With the impending launch of the new platform, a set number of Beta testers are required to test the initial Call of Duty 4 Servers.

Beta Testing will commence during the weeks ahead and prospective testers and interested parties should have access to Call of Duty 4 and must be able to play online at set periods during the last two weeks of January.

MMORPGs seem to work fine on iBurst. I've done ultima online, last chaos and even done p2p diabloII ...
I think the main problem is FPSs because latency matters.
If you're really hardcore, we should set up a nethack server ;)
