Iburst is going one way

What price increases?

"all" was a bit vauge. There has been an increase in out of bundle bandwidth charges, and a sort of decrease with extra bandwidth added on to every account. Also a new R170 downgrading fee and R100 connection fee for new customers.

For most people just an increase in value...

I don't think Vodacom have any power over iBurst as a 10% stake holder. Maybe through the father-son connection, it looks like most iBurst ideas are formulated around the dinner table.

Yeah, i dont think vodacom are calling the shots *yet*

To me looks like things arent so dandy in the iburst camp. Probably lost a "couple" subscribers with their last few antics and maybe trying to beef up the deal to a prospective buyout customer by pulling more contract subscribers. Profits are probably down and a subscriber base of just month-2-monthers looks a bit volatile.

how do you expect to pull in customers when the customers see additional handling fees involved for signing up to their service?

I for one will start my migration to say NeoTel as soon as possible!

This is absolutely unbelievable. Unethical, greedy, scummy. Just leaves me with a really really bad taste in my mouth.

Iburst, you will be one less customer within the next 2 months thanks to this smart move.

Dont even start about Neoel. I doubt we will see much that side for many months if not years. There is definitely collusion there. Just look at what has happened !

People, it's just a hundred rand. Even though these guys tend to work on my nerves sometimes, I won't join the public riot over a little activation fee. Honestly, I can't see why you are complaining. You're already signed up aren't you? It's not your fee to pay.

Just the general idea of price increases. iBurst used to be doing well when they cut all those costs and started putting up tons of new basestations.

Now they seem to have overdone it and start to take everything back :(

I don't really worry about the price increases because I take care to stay within my bandwidth constraints :D

My concern, if I were still an existing subscriber, is that they are seemingly looking for all the areas where they can up fees. This would say to me, 1) they aren't looking to cut fees anywhere anytime soon and 2) they might just find an area to increase fees where it hurts existing customers.

Their efforts don't seem to be focussed towards providing a more cost effective solution to customers.

Prices going up not good. Even by R1.

Regardless of whether we will have to pay the fees or not, what iBurst are currently doing goes against making broadband inexpensive.

Whilst some one going on to a more expensive package may not be impacted as much, it is those people on the entry level packages that will be hit the most.

Either way, an increase or additional cost is just that. The product is more expensive and that makes it unattractive to prospective clients.

Well all I can say is that since last month my iBurst Connection has been a really uphappy/dissapointing experience. :(

Hey DarKWateR how long have you been with iBurst?

The thing with iBurst is when it works it's better than most internet connections, but unfortunately most of the time it s not working as it should - due to unschooled network technicians...

At present in Cape Town area:
1. VoIP is the worst it has ever been
2. P2P non-existing
3. International browsing is really slow
4. Local minor downloads are good
5. Local browsing is ok

Well that comes as no surprise. Cape Town has always been a problem with iBurst. It surprises me really, as I'd expect Johannesburg to have much more problems since it is so oversubscribed.

GBM, that is not true, CT problems started when "they" first decided to play around with the towers, before that most of the problems were in JHB.

Some people just say Iburst is great no matter what. Just look at your sig.
They are ripping us off.
