I burst has a dying technology...1mb/s compared to 3G's 4mbps for a little more money.
Better coverage on 3G...
I-burst as a technology is dying, their towers will be worthless soon. They tried WiMax, but the uptake is slow, as the technology is simply too expensive and unreliable for the customer.
Their bad-debtors book is growing.
They grew mainly by having dealers (such as @lantic) increasing their database. Dealers invested time and money connecting clients to I-Burst because they are getting good commission as the margins are currently healthy.
Seacom coming in, bandwidth price dropping, margins dropping. I-Burst will be losing customers as clients move towards 3G (see the current uptake on 3G!)
Telkom will be reducing their pricing on DSL too..and having wider coverage....
I see no future for I-Burst, neither not AK-C. He's surely making the right decision by jumping ship before it sinks.
As for him moving to Cape with his family, couldn't they find a better excuse? That excuse is totally lame!
