I have a PCMCIA iBurst modem, the newer black version. My laptop is an Acer Travelmate 6592G and is supplied with both Vista Business and XP Pro. If I use Vista, and I try to use the sleep function, the display will go off, and thats about it. All the lights etc are still on. Nothing I do will recover it. Holding the power button in will shut it down and when I start it up, I get a message about improper shutdown etc, Vista does a startup recovery, and after 10min or so, everything is back to normal. If I take out the modem, The sleep function works fine.

With Xp, it goes into standby fine but when it comes out of standby, the modem, won't startup. I'll have to restart the system. Thats with Xp Sp3. With Sp2 it's better. Sometimes it does the same. Other times it's fines.

With Windows 7 Beta 1, it sleeps and wakes up perfectly fine, it just won't restart after a sleep cycle. It freezes.

All Windows versions sleep/standby fine when the modem is removed.

Also, the modem functions fine in every other way except for the sleep/standby issues.

I've tried un-checking the " allow the computer to turn of this device to save power" option in the power management settings without any effect. Also, in Vista, I tried to edit the Boot Config Data since that might have been corrupted, but that did not help.

Any help or suggestions is appreciated.
