iBurst mum on Telkom 'attack'

iburst like telkom doesn't give a hoot about it's customers

typical *** in the telecoms industry. Iburst, Telkom, Vodacom, MTN, they're all useless

To the ignorant these sort of ads might indicate competition but we know better.

One other aspect that AFAIK has not been mentioned so far, and might explain why Telkodemonopolies has suddenly decided to attack iBurst SA, is that iBurst SA's pricing is set to reduce in a few days time - albeit not by a huge amount, but apparently enough to convince Telkodemonopolies to break yet another law - that comparative advertising in illegal in SA - not that I agree with the law - personally I like the idea of companies slagging each other's products & services in adverts.

....., is that iBurst SA's pricing is set to reduce in a few days time - albeit not by a huge amount, ......

iBurst have yet to confirm this and repeated attempts to get clarity on this have been ignored, by all and sundry. That means - Accounts department, Support Department, Shaun Green, Thami Mtshali etc.

They are all a bunch of money-grubbing ingrates who have absolutely no idea what customer service is.

However I do agree that I get a huge amount of pleasure out of companies slagging each other off in advertisements. Remember the days of the Chapmans Peak ad's for the different manufacturers? Brilliant! :)

Nope, don't know anything about it, sounds intriguing :).

@dominic, what is your take on competitive advertising, and how would one go about petitioning to have it legalised?

What is it with iBurst SA - are they competing with Poison Ivy to be even more incompetent & narcoleptic than she is?

[Telkom_blue]R111.90[/Telkom_blue] - The price you pay for not reading the fine print

Suck it up, kettle.

I actually find it galling that Telkom is under the impression that iBurst is their nearest competitor in the Broadband environment. If we had true competition, they'd be competing against another fixed line ADSL provider, but nooooooo: they're slagging off another jockey in a one-horse-race to consumer deprivation... I don't give a hoot about iBurst. Personally, I'd never use them or any other wireless internet provider. I want Neotel to hook me up to that shiny new fibre optic cable running past my house, and I want them to do it NOW. I want to be able to tell Telkom exactly where I'd like them to run their cables through next...

:D if only iBurst SA would attack Telkodemonopolies' ADSL pricing in adverts - it would be like a visit to the zoo with Telkodemonopolies & iBurst SA caged and throwing banana peels at one another - worth seeing IMO.

Telkom still dictates pricing to the others - so why should they start with the "mine is bigger and better than yours" spiel?

Undoubtedly theirs is smaller and not so better - and they're trying to hide this fact by pointing out others' shortcomings...

Should be interesting to see if iburps responds at all... but I am sure iburst will go the sentech way pretty soon...

It started with a true story of a Merc that rolled off of Chapmans Peak Drive where the driver survived (obviously highlighting the strength and safety of the car), BMW then came along to 'Beat The Bends' (so no worries about rolling of the side of the mountain) and then Land Rover highlighted the point that even if you left the road on Chapmans Peak in a Landy, you could just drive back up again. :-) Thoroughly enjoyed it.

It seems to be. They all seem to be cut from the same cloth and it doesn't only apply to telecommunications companies either. All we need is ONE company to stand-up and make a change in terms of offering exceptional client service and a decently priced product (and then continuing in that vein ad-infinitum). Sadly, they all end up trudging down the same path as their peers as it is the accepted norm.

telkom advertises R199 all inclusive adsl? there is no way u can pay them R199 pm and have a working adsl line, who are they to point fingers? i'm surprised iburst hasnt come up with something like 'at least R49 is less than R110 for not reading the fine print' ? (not sure what normal line rental is) at least with iburst the R49 is R49 and u get ur 10mb, not R49 plus R100 for the aerial or something stupid.

i honestly dont see the problem with ad's like that, the bmw ad in that case reminds people of the merc one, and the landy one reminds u of the other two, so in effect u get a bit of advertising even with ur competitions advertising, and also it keeps customers wiating for ur next advert... ai...

nah, it's legal

Obut apparently enough to convince Telkodemonopolies to break yet another law - that comparative advertising in illegal in SA - not that I agree with the law - personally I like the idea of companies slagging each other's products & services in adverts.

Actually, comparative advertising was legalized in South Africa sometime in the 90's already.

Advertising is a bit of a delicate gentlemen's game, thus you don't see much of it.

Please could you let ASASA know about this especially since ASASA recently nailed Nandos' Yello Hummer ad campaign on tha basis that Nandos competes with MTN in some unknown way.

Can someone please explain to me what the point of this Telkom ad campaign is? I realise iBurst's offer is ridiculous but what will Telkom gain? They should rather get off their back sides and get some fibre in the ground and give SA true broadband instead of wasting our money on these ridiculous ads.

I concur!
