Just tell Deon that you are writing about it online. In fact, invite him to comment :D It seems to do the trick on occasion.
 
Go to the small claims court. They'll probably not send anyone to defend the R699x2 and the judgement will be in your favour by default. Sell the judgement to a collection agency and cancel your subscription with them.
