Iburst PCMCIA on redhat

Hello

I have Iburst which works brilliantly well on "cough" XP. Now, I am trying to get the PCMCIA to work via redhat.

Anybody know how or even done this before.

I have found a great ftp site with all Iburst drivers.

black., unfortunately I cannot suggest anything on the UTC Linux front, but I do want to compliment you on the ftp find- busy downloading the bridge zip to find out what's inside...

I am especially curious about:

I didn't think that African Renaissance etc etc had spread quite as far as Australia... Perhaps some ex-SA folk having fun with a Linux distro name?

Ubuntu is actually proving to be very popular all over the world due to its ease of use and quick turnaround of requested features, certainly a distro to keep your eye on.

Well, it seems as though the iBurst_Terminal_UTL s/w is the same version that we have 2.14, but the .zip does have an interesting pdf:
iBurst_Terminal_UserManual.pdf
which is 111 pages long.

Also there appears to be some Kyocera iBurst util software for optimising MTU (which we do not have here in SA), but I don't think I want to try it, at least not right now.

We found the solutions

Edit the file /etc/pcmcia/config to contain the lines:

device "ibut_cs"
class "other" module "ibut_cs"
# ASIC01/A device
card "ArrayComm ut02"
manfid 0x02E3, 0x0001
bind "ibut_cs"
# ASIC01/B device
card "ArrayComm ut02"
manfid 0x02E3, 0x0002
bind "ibut_cs"


and it works like a dream. Thanks for the quick response guys.

Thanks, been doing that already today (my ignorance is showing again ), and I will probably order the CDs bcos I don't feel like downloading from the UK where ubuntulinux.org is hosted, also pointless trying ftp.is.co.za (they do have it mirrored now) bcos it is throttled badly.

I've seen their Unix drivers. It's something to put the fear of god into programmers. But they can work. However. Don't expect a customer friendly version of it soon,

I've been trying to get the iBurst PCMCIA card working on linux. I deinstalled my 2.6 FC2, and have installed RH 9.0 instead, but no joy. What kernel/distro have people had success with?

yes it is, and it is getting pretty popular, however it is not a south african... or even african thing. It's just a "cool" word they thought they'd use to sound deep and profound. Our distro would be impi, which is fastish but still needs work and new logos

Stepper, thanks for the link. I have got as far as loading and building everything. I'm just trying to make it work now, and wanted to compare what I've got (which doesn't quite work) to what others have which does work.

For those who are interested, I've recently got the iBurst PCMCIA card working under RedHat 9.0 linux.
I had to tweak a couple of things to get it going. If anybody is looking for help on this, I have posted a mini-HOWTO here:
