Anybody subscribed to this? Is it worth it, or should one rather just stick to the free versions like Zone Alarm for a firewall?

The wireless broadband provider’s 24 000 customers will have the option of entering into a 12 month iBurst PC Security Suite subscription at the affordable rate of R12 per month for Virus Protection, Anti-Spyware and a Desktop firewall.

One anyways get the McAfee updates SDAT***.exe for free to download.

^ Yep, its not really meant for us guys. It is a nice deal for people new to the internet or to permanently connected internet.

BTW, i found this usefull yet noone seems to have mentioned it yet, but the email2fax service now exists too. It costs R30pm and then a small fee for each fax, but you have to buy fax bundles.
Still usefull to be able to have an entire faxing solution without a expensive faxmachine, and all on your PC.

Oh, wow and alot of new towers this week too. Atleast they realy are deliverying on that..

Afaik the first ADSL customers got Norton Security Suite from Telkom as part of their package.

Garsfontein = Pretoria, near Woodhill but behind the hill so most of the mansions are still broadbandless.

Well the important thing here is, get the Cape Town towers up.
I know we had a few latley, but geesh leave Gauteng alone already.. JHB has like 50 basestations and everywhere else has 12 max.

okay, so no real complaint, I just want *my* new tower..

Oh, no no its okay thanks. :p
The thing is that my new tower will have a nice 1 or 0 load. My curretn one even only has 1 load during the day.

I think that makes pretty much the biggest difference to signal, its even more important than strength if you signal is above 70% or so..

All in JHB I think.. well Gauteng at least

Garsfontein
Vereeniging
Woodmead
North Riding and Kya Sands
Improved Signal in Norwood

Northriding and Kya Sands? I ruddy hope so! Have been on the Olivedale tower at really cr@p speeds for months now. Hopefully a tower in KS will sort that problem out.

Where did you come across this info?

the number of hits i get on my firewall from worms from other iburst's IPs tells me that there are people out there that need it

hmm, thats weird. I thought they would only be posted on there when they come live.

Well you can always double check it with teh status page, when they are on there and have a green light they should really be live.

It's a reasonable price for the AV protection as well as the firewall, but I don't like the programs they use. I guess it's just one's personal choice. I'm using AVG Free and the default Windows Firewall and have never had any serious problems.
