I contacted them, spoke to Charlton Morris, and he said it would be no problem. Then I sent him the IAfrica SMTP address and a week later I got a reply saying that IAfrica and MWeb do not allow relaying! I did not ask for relaying, I simply want to use my own IAfrica SMTP server in the same way that I use the IAfrica POP server. If anything, then using the WBS SMTP server seems to my mind to be "relaying". I simply need the shortest and quickest route to send and receive mail. I am sure going via WBS's server does not mean it is shorter or quicker. Or am I missing the point?
Here's the communication with them:
Hi there
I contacted the HelpDesk on Thursday 21:20 to ask to use my e-mail ISP's (IAfrica) SMTP server for outgoing mail. I have had problems getting mail sent on Thursday 13 April but had no problems receiving mail. My username with iBurst is andrieso. I am using the address 196.46.70.2 for the moment. The SMTP server to be used as from Tuesday is smtp-iafrica.com.
Best regards
Andries Oberholzer
Their response:
Hi there
Unfortunately, iafrica/Mweb do not permit relaying mail through their servers from foreign network connections
Thanks alot

But I am an Iafrica client. I have been with Iafrica /MWeb since 1999. I already use their POP server (pop01.iafrica.com) and have done so for seven years. All I want is to be able to use the SMTP server jhb-smtp.iafrica.com instead of smtp.wbs.co.za. In essence I want my internet connection through iBurst and my e-mail facilities come from MWeb. Already, because I no longer use their dialup they offered me a discout - from R149.00 to R70.00 per month.

What does one do now?
