iBurst softlaunch prices

I hope, anakin, that you have misunderstood something regarding the cap. I don't see how hitting your cap faster can be seen as a positive selling point and can only concur with the feelings of everyone above. I truly felt that WBS would be different but a cap is, was and always will be a very sour lemon to suck on. I wouldn't mind if after 3 gigs they throttled you down to a usable 64kb/s but just cutting you off completely will be met with the same kind of enthusiasm as the ADSL 2 gig package i.e. they won't be getting many customers from this forum. Also if you're going to have a cap then prioritising traffic is just not on.

Thanks for the info anakin.

1Mbps would be amazing, but as far as I'm concerned it would be a total waste if they give you a 3GB cap. If they made it more relistic and gave you 20 or 30GB, I would definitely be interested. But I'm not prepared to have to outlay more money every month to buy more bandwidth. Lets hope they learn from Telkom's mistakes and offer some attractive packages. Afterall, we all need/want something different. But the bottom line is R600 is way too much to be paying for 3GB. Anyway, lets just wait and see what they come up with.

I have to agree with the majority here. This is very dissapointing. The thing that really messes up ADSL here is the ludicrously low cap and the traffic shaping. So iBurst have just brought out the same ludicrously low cap and traffic shaping? Ok so it's theoretically faster (hit the silly cap much faster), but the pings are much worse (not good for gamers). And capping local??? And all other apps restricted to 64k??? It's just not worth the effort to switch over from ADSL. And certainly not worth buying an iModem. And don't evern start talking about taking the contract option. And to be perfectly honest, at the moment this iBurst stuff looks the inferior service.

What the hell is it with this traffic shaping crap? You can't block P2P by simply shaping the hell out of ports anymore anyway. So it's inevitably people who want to use relatively low bandwidth applications who are getting wacked by this nonesense. I will take the dumb cap any day over this shaping. I just wanna play games dammit.

well iburst you definetly lost my support was gonna switch from a wisp to u at the product launch but seeing as how ure all smoking crack over there it doesnt seem like a good idea anymore.

i'd rather pay my 600 bucks for a 128k connection that works full time decent pings and no limit on how much ****e u can download.

Proud South african rip offs.

I think you okes need to speak to the iBurst people rather seriously.

When Sentech launched it had the following mouthwatering claimed advantages:

-Uncapped
-24/7
-Mobile
-Not telkom
-Unshaped

Even with these incredible hooks they only managed to pull in about 2000 customers in the first 3 months.

10 months later they dont even have 4k customers (rather less infact). The only material change to the offering was implementing a soft cap of 10 GB.

iBurst is launching with:
-24/7
-Mobile

Of which only mobile is an advantage (to a minority) over ADSL. And bear in mind many of the hard-core must-have-mobile-people are already locked into Sentech contracts.

So I ask again how do you iBurst expect to attract a customer base???

Strike Three South Africa You`re out.
The dreams of affordable Broadband in South Africa are going further down the toilet.
Your offerings better be wrong or you might as well call yourself Sentech the second.

><My dreams smashed again,Well Dial-up it`s looks like we stuck together for a long time.

Google is so smart,I typed in Hellkom and guess what google said

Don`t you mean.....<insert evil laugh>
TELKOM!

Affordable broadband wont happen until Telkom's monopoly on international data circuits is ended.

But damn ... I at least expected iBurst to offer more, not less, than its two local "competitors".

to toss in my 2c worth .. the plan sounds delicious .. but a 3G cap for R600 just wan't work .. people will be ok using ADSL speeds for less then half the price ...

We are Telkom - Resistance is Futile - You will be Assimilated

was also pretty excited reading the first post THOUGHT OH !! IM GONNA SIGN UP TODAY !! but oh well, 3gb cap screw it yet another lame service. Our only hope is that sentech fixes all their issues,

IBurst showed 4 options starting with an EMail/Browser with a 1GB cap
Next had a 2GB cap
Third the prelaunch product with a 3GB cap not yet implimented, and a final bells and whistles p2p voip etc with a 7.5GB cap.

If you hit the cap you will be able to buy more at a per GB price but they dont yet know prices.

If the presentation with its non working slideshows and videos is anything to go by technical and IBurst are mutually exclusive terms.

"Partners" need to buy 15 modems up front and get a discount on these of R200 on UTC and R300 on UTD, and 12% commission on clients signed.

Man oh man! Unbelievable I tell ya. WTF is going on with these stupid companies?
3GB cap on a 1Mb line? I've given up.

This makes Telkom the better 'player' in the market. I'd rather support them instead of Suxtech & mIThurst(we'll be quenching their thirst!). We need some help from overseas, screw the local companies. Proudly South African my butt!

By the looks of it, I must say I think Telkom is the best at the moment.. I wish it weren't so cos SA really needs a shakeup in both the voice/data pricing department but hell 3GB is not all that hot, even if iBurst is mobile, how many of its users are? 99% of the users will be in one place all the time i.e office or residence so the mobility is useful for only a handful of people.

Telkom's ADSL, as we all know, is a complete ripoff and a pristine example of daylight robbery.. Sentech has problems here and there it seems to be a hit or miss situation.. iBurst is priced between the two but has a 3GB cap and bandwidth shaping..

....next please! [B)] [:)]

1GB cap.....Shoots the guy who thought that up.
You made a big mistake Iburst,do you know this forum has the power to make your life a living hell, they doing that to sentech by telling people not sign up with them and they will do the same to you.

Have a nice march launch cause it will be a small one.

Absolutely MaD, next please.

It's amazing that these guys screwed themselves before the public launch.
What a shame LOL.

I think I'm gonna give Web Intact a try since they don't have a cap & the speed's not bad at 512kb/s. Only problem is no one in this forum has tried them so I have my doubts.
