Yes they are, it's just that sometimes they look better by comparison, especially against 'no competition'

Well heres to hoping we "all-burst" with joy with I-bursts offering. I am just a bit weary after going through ADSL and feeling like a right royal twiddleDUMB and then buying into Sentech believing that they were the answer to my e-mule freedom and then feeling like a right royal twiddleWINSTON...

Somehow I just dont believe anything will change while Telkom are around.

We're ****ed :)

Yes, what many people are saying is true, when ppl were testing Sentech they were amased by the product, it was all the rave, much like IBurst. However aside for the points that TheRodent has raised, I think IBurst have a significant advantage in that they've been able to watch Sentech **** up at every corner. I'm sure they pretty much have a definite model of what-not to do.

Just in case they missed any pointers, here are a few :

Whether yee beith knowing it or not we arth not in the 16th century where consumers and women who could do maths(commonly called witches back then) are burned at the stake. Nowadays, something goes wrong .. the company is to blame, even if a bunch of consumers climb up onto your towers and take a huge collosal giant elephant dump on your antenna causing major bloackage and lowering of speeds(this sounds about right for a helpdesk excuse don't it) .. the company is to blame, the company is always to blame and they accept this with grace.

It is also generally not good practise to threaten those that you rely on for income. A "Baddie"-list is really just not one of those terms that helps boost the consumers confidence in and love for a company. And of course, even though it is nice to have a tight community among your customers, it's not neccesary to post out their names, phone-numbers, addresses and whatnot so that they can get together for a weekend picnic. Sure , I know at times people don't take those necessary steps to creating meaningful relationships but rather focus on the business-customer relationship first.

Here's my forcast of the future, end of August come and speeds are still toilet-slow, Sentech are still blaming customers, these so called "baddies" are being hunted down, "Hello Sentech Helpdesk, yes sir... we're busy bombing Afghanistan in order to find the pimps who're stealing your bandwidth, yes sir.. we do believe it to be Osama Bin Laden who released the pigeons which flew in front of the antenna which are now causing your slow speeds".

Come about a week before Iburst opens their doors to the public , Sentech's speeds suddenly improve and when we try cancel our contracts.. they won't let us. But no-one will care, no-one will pay for this service any more , they can't take us all to court, and if they do they'll lose.

I don't remember the movie but it's kinda like Armageddon and there's this big wave coming to crush a ****ty little city , and these people are standing on the beach just watching the approaching doom about to crush them - I think it's a fitting analogy for Sentech.

- Burn , burn yes you're gonna burn! Burn BURN YES YOU'RE GONNA BURN !

iBurst will still have its problems but given that they probably don't have the government mentality they are more likely to respond to their customers and that is what instils loyalty. You screw your customers just once and you will probably never fully regain their trust... kinda like any relationship.

p.s. Rage Against the Machine, very fitting [;)]

Izan

At the moment there is only 2 towers operational in JHB, as mentioned in a previous post.

Other towers are being set up but will only be operational at a later stage.

Disclaimer: I'm also not employed by WBS, I'm just a tester and all views expressed are mine and mine alone.

This really sounds promising. I'm with the LoneGunMan, the moment IBurst shows and they are reasonably priced i'm dropping sentech like a bad habit! LoneGunMan: What do i need to do to cover myself for contract cancelation? I receiving about half of promised speed! Am I not opening a ticket out of ignorance (first time with "broadband" - anything faster that our ****ty modem speeds)?
