iBurst to give away free data

Data consumed by the running of the Dashboard:
  • Running of the dashboard while connected – 7KB per hour
  • Calling of the Dashboard to see whether any push messages have been loaded – 200bytes per hour
  • Push messages received by the Dashboard – max 250bytes per message per hour
  • File updates – roughly 20KB-50KB per month
Taking all of the above into consideration, an average Subscriber remaining connected via the Dashboard 24/7 (i.e. never disconnecting) will use roughly 6MB monthly

200 bytes per hour? I highly doubt that.
20-50KB updates per month? Except for month 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11 and 12 were the updates are 10MB each.
6 MB monthly is 15% of the 40MB cap.
 
I can only think that the people who actually use the dashboard (as opposed to open source alternatives or routers) to connect to iBurst are mostly very low end users who'll never use the extra 500MB anyway.

Just another lame marketing ploy, if indeed that's the case :rolleyes:
 
Very lame indeed. I got news of this via e-mail. Needless to say that e-mail went to file #13 I haven't got time for useless crap from this company. They can take their 500Mb and shove it where the sun don't shine until such time as they stop content filtering p2p connections.
