IBurst Uncapped ADSL???

I give up. Is anybody taking notice of the fact that these accounts have FUP rollover.

Yes we are noticing that it has FUP rollover. But look at it from my point of view. I have a 10mbps line. It literally takes me 14 minutes to download 1GB. Using my example above of patching windows that would mean that I would have had 14 minutes of full line speed and 23 hours 46 minutes of 256k which is slower than the most basic of ADSL connections.

My gripe is what they call uncapped, is in fact soft capping at 1GB per day.

Unless you want a router it is month to month

I was sure it was, too, but I could also swear their website said "subject only to the signing of a 24 month contract". Meh, must have missed the router bit.

Seriously great deal, then.

sorry but what does FUP rollover mean?thanks in advance.
ps:i have phoned to iburst about FUP rollover.FUP rollover is just for 1 day not more than 1 day.so if you did not download 5 day(5g) still you have 2 gb for current day.this is very stupid.

Whatever you don't use today rolls over to tomorrow.

So if you don't login today, you have 2 gigs tomorrow before it slows down.

If I didn't have a download whore at home doing 400+ gigs a month I would snap this up in a heart beat.

Please give us speed tests and feedback on the account so we can have a factual discussion about it.

I assume it should run like a dream as the heavy downloaders will avoid it.

Because some people want uncapped for the security of never getting cut off? Or how about the people that want uncapped for things like steam and don't want to spend R500+ on that luxury? or people that only periodically use large chunks of data?

Not everybody wants to keep a local backup of all tv and movies.

Exactly.

Sorry but let's say I wanted to play Team Fortress 2 on steam as a new user I don't have a copy yet. That would be about a 4 gig download (it's free to play so there is no chance that I am going to buy it). That is a 4 day download before I even start to play. Then I will be throttled for day 4 already so I will probably only be able to start playing on day 5.

Another example, I recently bought a new PC I install Windows 7, I have to download SP1. that is a gig already, I haven't downloaded my updated MB drivers yet or the Office patches or any anti-virus and it's updates. And if you are like me and re-use my old computer with a new Debian install that is a minimum of 4,7gig download. It would take me more than a week to download all of this and get my computers up and running. I also often sit in my study and stream the rugby while working because I don't have dual view.

My point not everybody downloads large amounts only in pirated goods, so they can't call it uncapped and then impose a soft cap on you.

You'll be able to do 4gigs in one day even throttled to 256.

I have signed up and anybody else interested in going for it should beware. This service is horrendously slow! I have a 4MB line and although the iBurst will spike at 1 maybe 1.2 MB (only then opening a webpage), I average about 120 kbps (Monitored via BandwidthMeterPro). I still have my Axxess 384 Uncapped and as soon as my router authenticates with this account average speed instantly shoots back up to 280 kbps average, so ironically my Axxess 384 uncapped is still cheaper (@R196) and faster than iBurst ADSL uncapped on a 4096mbps line, while still in the AUP 1 GB. There is also something screwy about the service, YouTube which is a totally legit streaming source and yet on the iBurst account I can't watch, use my capped account and you see the Mb in action and YouTube can be enjoyed without waiting, so this rules out any line or hardware issues (Using a Billion, most stable router I've ever used...)
Oh, and to rub salt in my wounds, I called iBurst Tech Support, twice, and they promised to call me back by Monday, its now Wednesday. Thanks iBarft...

Canceled this frustratingly slow iBurst account, nobody at iBurst could provide clarity on why the service is so slow and obviously the issue could not be resolved. Think its time to sign up for a Afrihost 50GB package, so tired of burning my fingers on uncapped offerings that have ridiculously strict AUPs and the offerings with acceptable AUPs are too expensive... Wonder if SA will ever have a fair priced Uncapped and unshaped ADSL offering, judging by what is currently out there, I think not...

Answer = Altech*

*Tip; stay away from those that advertise like, MWEB, WebAfrica, IS, Afrihost, OpenWeb, etc.

Maybe you should have tried the business one with the 3gig FUP.

We still haven't gotten any speed tests on here. I really wanna see some unbiased data.
