Weird, but it seems to me that IBurst still needs to learn how to calculate remaining megabytes...

I have a MikroTik device with user manager that tracks all PPPoE sessions to the Internet. Today is the 12th of June and according to my logs I've used about 370Mbs. According to IBurst I've used about 750Mbs. More than double!!

I'll check all my settings first, but this really do seem awkward. Just want to know if there is someone out there with the same issue...

You're not alone. For the last few months, my bandwidth report has consistently reset itself just before it claims I'm about to use all my allocated bandwidth. The second time I hit the limit, it registers correctly, and then I get throttled down as expected.
Other months I would have totally random numbers in my bandwidth reports for the first week or so of the month, before it would settle down and give a reasonable figure.
I'm guessing that the bandwidth monitor audits traffic logs every 24 hours or so, and then does it's sums. I'd also guess that there's more than one device being audited, and that they aren't always in sync, which would explain how the reports can give such weird answers at the beginning of the month, and be so reasonable towards the end. All in all, the reports should not be considered reliable - they're cute, but only loosely connected to reality.

Never switch my modem off... I do however reconnect every morning @ 03h00, but that should not double my usage??

I have exactly the same setup running on ADSL and the usage (Mikrotik vs online ISP) are almost the same.

Pretty sure they don't know how to do basic maths...

You need to disconnect before midnight on the last day of the month as your usage during your last session could be deducted from the next months alloted bandwidth.

I monitor my usage and over 2 years iBursts bandwidth monitor has been spot on with BWMeter.

i have never had a problem with ibursts bandwidth report. I think it is a pebkac error.

:D

Mine also seems fine... I thought it was possibly a bit out until I installed NetLimiter and realised how much I actually use without noticing. :(

Maybe something to do with MTU / MRU settings? And my device switch towers at least daily... All my traffic works through PPPoE sessions - will check again, but something is not working the way is should

And with regards the to PEBKAC error - Halicon and MrH needs some ID-Ten-T training

hmm we're not the ones complaining... been using iburst since beta and i used BWMeter and now i use NetMeter (freeware).

Both have been spot on for two years running. I look at other iburst veterans pretty much confirming what i have only seen. Flawless bandwidth reporting from iburst's side.

Then i look at your comment... then i look at your above comment and i can only confirm.

you have no idea how to measure your bandwidth... so before you try and tell me (i am happy with the bandwidth report from iburst) how to do stuff vs you (usual naive ignorant noob iburst user pulling the same 'iburst stole my bw story) investigate a little and you will realise you made a mistake somewhere which i am sure even you are capable of doing.

then again you can also wave your arms and insist iburst stole your bw which in turn will only confirm my suspicion that you're a noob although you have confirmed it already and life goes on.

I have no option but to agree with what halicon said, run some tests with BWMeter or NetMeter and you will see that what the iBurst monitor says is pretty much the same as either of those 2 programs mentioned.

For almost 4 months this year, uploads were added to my brother's cap and downloads were subtracted from it. At one stage he uploaded much more than he downloaded and his usage limit grew exponentially... Was over 8 GBs on a 500MB limit at one stage in the month.

I usually switch off the modem.
It may be pebcak, but not my chair and not my keyboard ;) These are the automated reports which iburst email me every morning.
Let me elaborate:
Day 1: Useage report email says I've used 1GB. This seems accurate.
Day 2: Useage report email says I've used 2GB. Again, so far so good.
Day 3: Useage report email says I've used 3GB, and have nothing left of my allocated 2.5GB.
Day 4: Useage report email says I've used -573MB, and have 3GB left of my allocated 2.5GB. Weird, but I'm not complaining.
Day 5: Useage report says I've used -573MB and have 3GB left. But I'm positive I used about 1GB since the previous day...
Day 6: Useage report says I've used 1GB.
Day 7: 2GB
Day 8: 3.2GB
Day 9: etc
And for the rest of the month, everything seems normal.

I remember people doing 10gb with 1gb top ups.
