Iburst vs ADSL

Connection Speed 4096 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 3 db 1 db
Noise Margin 19 db 13 db

That's on DoBroadband level 3 @ 4Mb/s and 5Gig International/Blended Data + 30 Gigs Local data costing me R558 INCLUDING ADSL Line rental.

iBurst charges R599 for 5 Gigs (The Package I was on until I Downgraded to 1Gig this month in anticipation of ADSL being connected... And I canceled with iBurst on the 31st of August..effective end of September 2009)

Now I am going to switch to iBurst connection and post those results:

Spot the difference? At a cheaper price?

Yes it is nice and I also have a 4mb line.

But

Lots of people are not able to get fixed lines installed at their premises thanks to Telkom.
So Iburst, Neotel, MTN or Vodacom will be their only option.

Agreed.
I was in the same position not too long ago (No ADSL where I used to stay...)
The wireless providers have their place. But I just wish that they would offer better value for money and service.
I regard Vodacom/MTN etc. in a different category as they offer they offer true mobility via 3G/HSDPA.
iBurst is competing in the fixed line market IMO.

I agree 100% , iburst isnt a true wireless solution as there almost 0 mobility with it.
They only put themselves in the mobile internet bracket so that they can charge more.
 
Although I have my 'normal' iBurst Speed uncapped available.
I just don't want to switch back to it...
Hell clicking on a web site URL and having it load basically instantly.
It's hard to go back to Snail Internet once you have experienced F1..

Can't wait to cancel my iBurst account too, and get ADSL. For both home and office.

Those speedtests are making me salivate...

Well I just signed a 2 year deal , Not looking good atm , Ive had Vein burst for just over 3 weeks now and im starting to feel like I wasted my money.
 
Only thing that excited me with iBurst was throttled speeds(dial-up basically) but after the lies and deception with cap prices... ADSL on Wi-Fi FTW all the way.
 
Pity, that I cannot get ADSL at my area, cables get stolen every weekend always. Cancelled fixed phone for that reason (don't want to pay for no line time).

Friend got one (Prime), we tried at suburb where i'm living - 300kbps strictly (same as iBurst), we even tried on roof (7,5m above ground) - no effect. It says "perfect" on their coverage maps... Same thing, but higher latency (according to speedtest).

You are complaining now,if you are staying on the Highvelt wait for the summer thunderstorm and you will see how bad Iburst really is.
