Iburst Vs CellC ? They sell CellC packages now !

Pity it doesnt mean anything for us who already bought the iBurst hardware and have to sit here knowing people are paying less for a faster service..

Doesnt sit right with me at all..

I understand if they say the technology only allows us to have a 1 meg connection at this stage , but cut us some pie already , I dont see why we have to pay more for something they offer for less and that on the competitor's hardware ..

leaves a bitter taste in the mouth

Dunno about that...I stand to be corrected, but it just seems to be iBurst offering what CellC offers in any case...except that they're going to give you an iBurst email address, sumfing else...and offer to post it to you for R99. As I read it, it makes no sense.

Exactly .. iburst selling cellc wireless packages make no sence at all , it only results in unhappy customers (i.e. who already own the iburst hardware).
And looking at hellopeter , im not the only person who thinks iburst is smoking their stocks.

ibust have been at 1 meg for the last 6 years, i've been with them almost since inception, I recently moved house and spent a grand on an external antenna to improve a really crap signal, I'm now officially quite happy to right off any money spent on ibust (I won't call it an investment as that would indicate I was expecting to get some form of return).

the days of the orange dashboard on my desktop are numbered :p
 
Let us know how where you go and how you find your experiance .. im sure you wont be the 1st and you definitely wont be the last person dumping the orange orb.

iBurst should in all honesty , be cheaper than a superior product (CellC's offering which they also sell at cheaper than their own packages)

I'd suggest, you go back to school, learn how to calculate and read properly, then check carefully the packages offered by iBurst and Cell C, some sparks might fire between your brain neurons and you'll figure out why iBurst is still cheaper than Cell C.

Did more than 120 Gigs last month with iBurst and dont even want to contemplate what this will cost on CellC. Thus far I've done more than 56 gigs for December. I'm on the wireless 5 package with the 64k vas added and still have about 2 gigs left of my 5 gigs for normal browsing, email and the odd video and download during the day.

As a truely mobile wireless internet alternative and if you use between 2 and 5 gigs, then CellC would be a cheaper option.

iBurst has its drawbacks with the main one being stuck on the 1 Mbps speed. I would be interested in the 2 Mbps modem.

Let me start off by saying you really need to rework your critique skill.
So ... Let me address your issues sir.

Yea .. lets change the thread to why iburst uncapped from 12 to 8 along with a 2 gig package costs almost the same as uncapped adsl from mweb - line rental included.
Taking the entire reason for me raising the thread and throwing it out the window.

Let me spell it out for you .
Do Iburst sell their OWN BRAND OF WIRELESS INTERNET ?
What does CellC sell now ?
Is their offering cheaper than iBurst's 2 gig offering per month ?
Was I Complaining to iBurst that their 2 gig offering's price should come down ?
Was I asking why on earth they sell the competition's packages ?
If I already invested in their hardware shouldn't they get comparative packages ?
And by the way , I own a uncapped VAS 128 package,
I really should start a thread about their tower maintenance .. Do you know how many times I get disconnected after hours ? Yea , its fantastic.
Almost defeats the purpose , almost. I'm 1 inch away from getting adsl.
The reason I haven't cancelled is that I forked out my hard earned cash to buy the hardware for this shindig.

So while you might think iburst is the best thing since sliced bread , Im trying to tell their marketing team that we would like to see cheaper wireless packages.
Especially seeing they now cavort with the competition.

This thread isnt even about the speed or the coverage , its about the prices and about iBurst selling the competition's product.
Looks like they might aswell sell the business. I don't see how they are competing at all. Quite the opposite , they support the competition.

coverage does not equate to speed, i still get slower speeds with cell c then i do with iburst
yes i agree they are more expensive, but then again i downloaded more then 20 gigs this month so far, for free on iburst so technicaly they are cheap

I forked out over a grand for my hardware so id rather have them be competitive than having to move. So we are in the same boat ..
And I do agree about the coverage vs speed conundrum .. My qualm is about the pricing .. We want a better pricing structure here. Their selling the competitor's cheaper package , cut us iburst clients some cake here , I vote with my wallet.
Just fighting for the cause man .. fighting for the cause ..

Ugh, no... I can't see myself forking out huge amounts of cash for another modem when there's no sign from iBurst that they are upgrading their actual network as well. A 2/5 GB package is perfect for my needs - the bigger downloaders, as mentioned elsewhere here, will most likely stick with iBurst because while it's pretty slow, it's cheaper for the bigger volumes being downloaded.

I agree with you on that one.
Plus , their uncapped option borders on the price for uncapped adsl + line rental , depending on the package youre on ,
and like ive mentioned , their tower maintenance schedules are smack darn in the middle of the uncapped time (for me atleast)

For those of us using iburst during the day , im sure a gesture from iburst would be welcome.
 
I suspect they loosing lotsa business to CellC. It's definitely an advantage if they can sell them the CellC products when clients call in to cancel iBurst Wireless.

On a side note iBurst Wireless is the only decent Broadband I can get in my area and apart from recent outages it has treated me well...

Plus my feeling is that if I can't, most evening/days that I browse/download, get anything close to the 1 MB/sec on my current 'normal' modem, then buying a 2MB/sec modem isn't going to help, as I am still not going to get those speeds, either.
