Iburst vs /Neotell

Sorry if this has been answered, I searched the threads, but it is a bit slow here
I am seriously considering putting my Iburst in the braai and going with Neotell.
1: Iburst is very slow ( I am in Greyston drive Sandton )
2: Iburst way to expensive
Have anyone one purchased the Neotell data flex, who had Iburst and how do you find the comparison.

I am also considering neotel . Just waiting for a tech to come check if i have coverage.
 
Had iBubbles and now on Neotel-me-more. If iBubbles had bothered to put up a stronger transmitter I would have stuck with it.

I'm happy with my Neotel but we do use it to phone a lot. I plan to switch over just to the voice option next year September (2yr contract ends) and will then either go for Neoflex or look at 3G for my data.
 
im getting 90-100% signal and yet i still have problems so at this stage i am gonna have to try neotel as iburst is simply not coping with wow. With aion arround the corner , i dont want to spoil a good new game with a connection that cant cope.
 
Yes I agree ,I also have 90 % plus signal all the time , can only download at about 8 kb/s
 
WDP. You are propably capped already (throttled to 64K speeds)

Not sure what my signal quality is (i use Network cable to PPPOE in)

but when i still have cap i get around 70-90kb per second (basically 800kbps to 1mbit)

When i'm throttled i get around 5-7kb per second (pings are still around 50-80ms on local servers, and 350-500ms to international)
 
Hi I get this from the first day of the month , and I buy more during the month , I have moved around JHB with it , no luck , it is just slow over all , well my opion anyaway

Where in Grayston drive are you? I'm in Grayston drive myself and I get very good speeds.

This is using a 2Mb/s modem but if I'm getting over a Meg per second, it means the network is not congested and you should see similar results.

Could well be something about your location. PM Shaun to give you a hand.

But first run a speedtest and check that you're not capped.
 
Well capped or uncapped , Iburst is just not coping with load that World of Warcraft raiding requires.
If my iburst cant cope with WOW then there is no chance of it coping with Aion.
I been a subscriber with iburst for quite a while now and i would hate to leave them but at this stage , the fact that they stating everything is fine on their side and things are not gonna improve and no further investigation will take place basically tells me that iburst has slipped and their standards lowered since this problem did not exist when i first got it. I havent moved , i bought a new antenna so its obvious that i have a choice of never playing online games again or move to a different ISP. Anyone interested in buying my iburst modem please give me a shout (in the Cape Town area i will deliver it).
 
I doubt WoW is completely playable on Neotel, you will get same latency and latency spikes as 3G.

You get a 2MB/s Modem?

nope.. 5 ppl one house all 5 pvping .. and we all getting 380 ms:D

neotel isnt shaped ppl
 
honestly neotels uncapped package sounds alot better..
i hate to say this.. shaun has been trying to help us greatly .. but one man isnt enough its the whole way iburst runs.. if we had a 4mbps modem.. and throttled was 1mbps

but anyway waiting for my contract with iburst to end. then ill prob be folloing u!

From the horses mouth ... thank you mate.
I am gonna try and arrange a 1 - 2 day test on them before i commit but this is good feedback.
What area do you stay in ?
 
i stay in pretoria.. elardus park.. and i dont even have excelent coverage its about 70 % :D
