iBurst vs WiMAX?

Hi guys,
while im waiting for Telkom to get me a port on the exchange I want to either resign up with iBurst or sign up for WiMAX.

Iv been fairly happy with my iBurst connection and wouldnt mind using them untill I get a port so I can change to ADSL.

The only reason I will go the WiMAX route is if I can play FPS games online without any problems from the pings being to high.

So could you guys please tell me what my average ping would be if I were to play online on a local server and if I would have any problems with lag?

Sign up for WiMAX and test both. I'm with iBurst at the moment and the connection isn't bad but I'm jumping this sinking ship to ADSL. iBurst have made it clear they don't give a rat's @ss about their customers. While Telkom don't either at least they (for the most part) let you use your purchased bandwidth how you want.
 
I think a very good WiMax connection might be okay with local FPS, just as a good iBurst connection might be.

But honestly if you're planning on playing online, just wait for ADSL. Do you even know if there is a WiMax tower available?

Wimax would give you about the same ping as adsl.

How? You cant even get a decent FPS game playing over a WiFi connection in the same room let alone from a tower a couple of KMs away. Wireless will always suck if you're into FPS shooters.

lol iBurst, speeds depend on where you live?? sorry not for me! IMO I would wait and get WiMAX/CDMA2000...
Technicaly we have not CLUE how it works for games as we have never realy tested it! although holding thumbs for good results. I am on 64k SAT DSL now trust me it cant get ANY worse than this I lag all day all night FPS/RTS/Racing/RPG local or International l-a-g!

Oh! and Technicaly WiMAX is Not WiFi :)

WiMAX - IEEE 802.16
WiFi - IEEE 802.11

WiMAX has a much longer range system and runs on the 10 to 66 GHz range it uses scalable orthogonal frequency-division multiple access* WiFi is more like a short range system uses to supply a house or internet Caffee with internet connection short range stuff :)

There Will Be Wimax in CPT/JHB/Pretoria soon after that Durban/PE and all the rest so just hang in there people! :D

Ta, been there already. There's no mention of external antenna costs.
