iBurst WiMax - Any good?

I noticed that iBurst have a WiMax offering now.

Is it any good? Key criteria are:
* Reliability i.e. no dropped connections
* Speed
* Static IPs

I tested it for a few weeks. The speeds were very close to the theoretical maximum, and although there were problems initially the connection was stable after the problems were resolved.

I am not certain about static IPs - I suspect it may be static, but best to wait for comment from an official iBurst guy here.

Telkom's refusal to lay additional telephone lines in Bryanston ....

I might be moving house in a couple of months and ADSL availability will be a key criteria but until then I am stuck with wireless.

I need the connection for interactive, online, applications including:
* World of Warcraft
* Lotus Live
* Second Life
* Ventrillo

A 512kbps or 1mbps downlink is usually fine but what kills me with Screamer's WiMax is that I get disconnects. Seemingly it is a NAT problem and I would hope that a proper static IP would resolve it.

I would love to test it ... is the Screamer equipment compatible or would I have to purchase from scratch?

Have you read these two threads? At this moment in time going the iBurst route is simply retarded. I hate to do this but I would recommend rather looking at telkoms wimax offerings.

Iburst charge "R1.50 per minute for international" so you're looking at R180 for 2hours of usage. If you could download at 100KB/s for two hours you would only be able to download 720MB so essentially you'll be paying R250 per gig.

Of course ibursts wifi/wimax? might be faster that 100kb/s but it could also be slower.

Your business portal lists WiMax under "Dedicated Wireless".

Quite a bit more expensive than Screamer (3x for unshaped) but does it resolve the issues that I am experiencing with them??

Was trying to convince iBurst to let me test their offering on a "full-money-back-if-not-completely-satisfied" basis.

Unfortunately it seems if they don't have that much faith in their offering. Enough said ...
