When will iBurst drop their Wimax pricing?

Let's pick it up in the iBurst forum, but basically which prices are way too high?

I had a quick look at some comparative pricing (very quick, so it might not be accurate):

500MB - including modem

iBurst: R169
VC: R249/R279
MTN: R249
Telkom 3G: R213

1GB - including modem

iBurst: R219
VC: R349/389
MTN: R349
NeoConnect: R279
Telkom 3G: R283
Telkom ADSL: R323+

3GB - including modem

iBurst: R469
VC: R649/799
MTN: R649
NeoConnect: no offer in this size
Telkom 3G: R553
Telkom ADSL: R515+

I'm sure this is not exhaustive, but in general iBurst seems to be at the lower end of the scale. But let's pick it up over on the iBurst forum.

I know the iBurst pricing is a bit lower than 3g prices, but I want to know about Wimax, not the iBurst "mobile" offering.

Everyone claims that Wimax is a Fixed Line replacement, yet they price it according to mobile prices.

Another question is will iBurst ever peer with other ISPs so that they can run normal ADSL products over the iBurst Wimax last mile? The way telscum Wimax works?

That way you can focus on providing a solid transmission system, and let the ISPs come up with lekker offers. You can even let the ISP create an entire product that they manage end to end over the iBurst Wimax last mile.

My problem with iBurst, vodacon, mtn, cell c, and wisps is that you are locked into their idea of what a good package is. Why not focus on creating an damn good last mile product that everyone can use?

I've got Telkom Wimax and it's great. The only complaint I have is that it's stuck on 512kbps with no forseeable upgrade in speed.

I like the flexibility of being able to use any ISP's account with Telkom Wimax.

Any furher news on this?

I cannot find any Wimax prices on the iBurst site.

Edit: Found it here.

hi guys.

I have sent this onto the WiMax Business team.

Thanks for the questions.

Hi guys

Currently there are no plans on a WiMax price drop.

The prices you see are applicable to business and residential clients.
