Any other iBurst users out there experiencing extremely bad pings?

Mine peaked at about 12000ms last night and then it hovers between 900 & 1500ms :( :(

I used to hover between 400 & 600ms now its unplayable.

I have DSL and I got the guys from iburst to come out and test it on my pc so I could see how WoW runs when I saw my latency went from 600 on DSL to a constant 7000 on Iburst I kicked him out of my house.

. <-- There is a million times more relevance in that little dot to this thread than your post. Well done.

I have also noticed that my latency has shot up on Iburst.

I hover around 1200ms on average and often time out or experience bad lag spikes.
-----------------------------
As an added note: I use the speed test on Iburst and I used to hover around 800 - 900. However since December I have noticed that I now hover around 300 - 400, with an upload of sub 100!

I have contacted Iburst and tried all their advice and technical support to no avail.

I have now cancelled my Iburst account and will join the masses by going ADSL and using Hellkom's infrastructure ..... :(

Two people at work here have iBurst and they're both complaining of terrible latency. They're not happy, as you can well imagine. :(

These "unhappy iBurst users" that are mentioned in this thread... Can we confirm that the problems started recently? As Fudzy's original post states, the troubles seem to have started on recently.

Well, since around Mid december or so.

But as of late, its constant. I have an external antenna and get full signal on the modem. I have upgraded the firmware, used DrTCP to fine tune the settings and nothing seems to have worked.

The signal seems intermittent with periods of no activity on the modem.

My latency seems fine but packet loss is something else...

I had this happen and i contacted customer care they told me to DL DRTCP found here

Put in these settings:

Select if you are using the usb terminal or your Ethernet click save and reboot should sort it out a bit

My advise to anyone is to get far away from iBurst if you are planning to enjoy WoW. Before moving to DSL I would get 6000-12000ms during the day and 800-1200 at night. (With full signal and Omni Antenna, Flat panel gave same results).

800-1200 may not seem that bad but Iburst drops packets and stops transmitting every so often which could have you waiting 30-40 seconds for an instant cast.

iBurst support is clueless and will never solve your problem. I have spoken to a few people that do not have problems with iBurst but my experience was horrid.

ADSL is far better value for money. Ofcourse you might go insane waiting for them to install the line. I now get 340-400ms 24/7 and the game is a lot more enjoyable.

FWIW my latency with iburst is about 800ms right now.

Playing against npc's is ok, but when encountering horde players even 3 levels below me they have the advantage over me because of lag.

Yeah mine has been better since last need. No more than 700ms kudos to whatever iBurst techy fixed the problem :D

My ping is usually between 500ms and 700ms. Time of day doesnt make a big difference. Early mornings and late evenings though I get below 450ms, sometimes even 400ms.

But what i despise of iburst is the random disconnects or it stops transmitting. The only way to fix this is to reboot modem, and goodbye WoW. login again and blah blah blah. Just great fun when you're in an instance...

What plan do you have? What is the total amount you pay per month? I finally got the line installed but am still looking for a good isp

I'm on G1, since they've fixed the problem my pings haven't gone above 700 and the lowest it was last night was about 450.

The ping seems to improve when you are capped though strangely enough.

Alchamy: What ADSL package are you on?

Hi guys,

I am with Webafrica on an unshaped account, its a bit costly (R500 per month) but i have been very happy so far. (besides the last 48hrs of not being able to log into wow cause of saix problems).

We have 3 WoW players in the house all using the same link without hassles. Even in MC/BWL etc things are great. Although if all 3 of us are in a raid we do sometimes get a dc but that might just be blizzard related.

I got a Vanilla trial account yesterday since the latency is meant to be even better and at R290 per month for 3gb it is a bit more affordable. I will be trying this out over the weekend to see if it is as good as the hype around it.

Irony had it in for me and I was on iBurst last night thanks to all the Saix problems and although my latency was around 700ms as you guys have said its still not nearly as good as a DSL link and I had to make an effort to wait a little longer between actions. The first 30 minutes was just "another action is in progress" :P

Hi! What problem did they fix? Because my lag is still as bad as ever and if anything, it's gotten worse over the last week or two. I'm also on the G1 package.
