Icasa chief suspended

Now is the time to call for the disbandment of this useless body of stale air. They have done nothing for the astronomical salaries they receive and cannot even understand that the differnet pieces such as saix telkominternet are all part of exactly the same company. All they can do is help protect the monopoly called Telkom and make fierce judgements where small fry are concerned. They could not ever implement any of their major decisions and in the case of the SNO the minister decided herself. The whole process could have been completed without them. They were used entirely as window dressing. Remove all regulatory rulings, decide on annual license fees and open up. If the organisation utilising airwaves or not, can afford to pay their licese fees, they can continue operating, otherwise somebody else can utilise the resource after payment. Imagine having to debate whether Mnet should have open time or not. If they want to broadcast and operate a free to air system, why should they be stopped. Why should the SABC be the only once benefitting from license fees. Obviously the channels are available, why not just license them. The license fees could thus be used to the benefit of the people by flowing into strate coffers instead of window dressing councilors that have no idea of what they are doing. Licene Telecoms on the same basis, except make Telkom's annual license fee R6billion and the SNO, TNO and FNO's fees R1billion per annum for the first two years. This will allow the public to get a return of investment on the free infrastructure donated after being paid for by taxpayers and allow Telkom to still show a tidy profit on investment. Imagine what out schooling system or sick healthcare can do with R6billion extra per year. It would be far more advantageous to this country as a whole rather than enriching a few corrupt politicians, Telkom CEO's, and Icasa councillors.

GET RID OF ALL JOKERS!!!!!

seems unlikely that she is guilty...it would involve actually doing something.:)

ICASA=GOV=TELKOM=CORRUPTION
Correct me if I'm wrong?!
Or maybe we should have it as:
ICASA + GOV + TELKOM = CORRUPTION
It has a nice ring to it!
Sad but true!

Maybe now they will get a CEO with big kahuna's between his legs and grey matter between those ears, and HELP THE SOUTH AFRICA PUBLIC!!!

Taxpayers pay their salaries or Telkom pay their bonuses...?

Wonder what the deal is with this investigation considering it appears to be a financial thing. Hmmm.

Good god and these are the people who are supposed to gaurd the public interest?

This has something to do with Telkom for sure: shares, kickbacks, bribes or the like ...

PS: I hope the IT journalists who frequent these forums start digging for dirt right away. You just know its there ...

He resigned some months ago ... sorry

This maybe good news then again it maybe no news at all. At the very least it means the SNO will have to wait longer for there liscense to be signed.

similar to what happened when the new boss pitched at telkom....

i hope there is substance to this and they are doing the right thing - internal diversions are not what is needed

Please oh please, let this implicate Telkom in some sort of bribery scandal.
Then finally we'd have some sort of proof of Telkom's underhanded activities.

No doubt, if this was to happen they would blame the three recently dismissed telkom execs.
