ICASA deemed useless by broadband community

Our little mini-world of South Africa seems to be plagued by so many If onlys that I'm starting to find it hard to keep track.

If only Telkom would behave like grown-ups, we'd have a better economy and better telekoms.

If only ICASA weren't a toothless old dog we'd be a lot better off as well.
 
If only telkom had a respect for capitalism instead of thinking it runs its own little communist state and it be Stalin.

If only ICASA had some respect for itself and south african consumers instead of being Stalins lapdog.

If only telkom knew there was life beyond the laager.

If only icasa realised they were keeping sa in the digital kraal.

If only telkom would stop practising digital apartheid.

If only icasa would stop supporting apartheid.

... if only elephants were pink and had little wings then we, the country, would be so much richer.
 
ICASA only seem effective when someone infringes on the regulations and does not have loads of lawyers.
 
ICASA is worse than useless... in it's current implementation, it's a liability. It's like comparing the Spanish Inquisition to the life of Christ.
 
The impression one gets is that ICASA is merely another incompetent operating division of Telkom.

ICASA's performance during 2006 - Does the industry regulator deserve a christmas pressie? Naughty or Nice?

Maybe its just flogging a dead horse - but I think the self-congratulations need to be roundly challenged.
 
If ppl at ICASA dnt want to help this country and it's ppl. Then if they are looking for new staff i will join and try and put things right.

More of us get into ICASA for of the (......) can get put.

I'm all for a poll ^.^

*fetches the wood, wire, gasoline and some matches* I'm all for setting their buildings alight if you are ^.^ Or is that too drastic? Ahh well, c'est la vie.

However, on a more serious note, ICASA and Telkom are the same evil; both have successfully managed to keep South Africa's telecommunication system in the dark ages, not to mention what immeasurable economic damage they've done to this country.

Deeming ICASA as "useless" is like saying crap stinks 10 years after it started smelling.
 
IncompetentCASA is in no shape or form "independent" from the DoC and the Grim Poisonous Ivyness Creeper, and this is the root cause of ICASA's ineffectiveness.

A Constitutional amendment is still essential to untangle ICASA from the DoC and beyond doubt enshrine ICASA's independence from guavamint, if this happened, it would also mean that sections of the ICASA Amendment Act pertaining to Ivy's influence and involvement in the appointment of ICASA councillors, would be unconstitutional.

The next step would be to get rid of Ivy's plants within ICASA, this includes the biggest weed of them all: Paris Mashile.
