Hi folks

I have received feedback from ICASA regarding the final document:

"The committee has finished doing the write up and the document has been with council. Cllr Mohlala's adviser has assured me that we will get a signed council resolution by Wednesday. The document can only be released once it has been adopted by them. I guess most of them wanted to be really comfortable with the subject matter before attaching their signitures."

A big thanks to Diane for her prompt reply.

Regards,

RPM

Finally, a decent response from ICASA. Thanks rpm.

*scrnscrm picks stoke up, dusts him off, puts him back in his chair, and takes the bottle away from him :D *

*oh, and he thanks RPM as well..... *

Excellent, my faith in ICASA is restored, I have hope again :).
Pity 12 of their staff have been suspended tho.. thats about as intelligent as kicking a lead-filled soccer ball.

moenie spot nie, i've kicked a lead-filled soccer ball before... wasn't pretty.... i scored a goal.... :D

My Best Case Scenario for ICASA Recommendations:

No monthly 'adsl line rental' charge.
(their insanely high 'phone rental' monthly charge more than covers every aspect of operating costs, and still gives them profit.)

Their monthly phone rental and inflated charges for 'local' and 'long distance' calls provide them with all the profit they need.
And the State needs to limit their profit-making - specifically because there is
no alternative telecommunications company that consumers can use.

Therefore Telkom, despite their potential arguments for a hands-off approach
by the State, is not operating on a level or genuinely competitive playing field
(to use that tired old analogy) - so consumers have to be protected against
them, for the time being.

Anything that ICASA says that doesn't come from within this theoretical framework, tells you its time to leave this country.

In all respect, ICASA will hand over their findings to the communications minister and wipe her ass with the nice paper it's printed on. That's my opinion on what is going to happen.

And seeing as Mbeki is always out of the country trying to bring peace to the world, his ministers can do what they want when they want without the principal being there to govern things as he should. The nobel peace prize has been won by mandela, get over it and get this country into shape!

/end rant

Great news, thanks RPM

.../me rushes off to get hold of hitman and cancel contract.

It seems like the night before christmas where its just around the corner yet you cant wait to open your presents...

I have one worry though, as has become expected when dealing with Telkom and anything related to them.
The committee has finished doing the write up and the document has been with council. Cllr Mohlala's adviser has assured me that we will get a signed council resolution by Wednesday. The document can only be released once it has been adopted by them
Does anyone know how many of those that where suspended where on that council. It just seems fishy that just before the release of the document, there is a new Head of Icaca, choosen by DoC if I'm not mistaken and then 12 people suspended from their jobs?. Does the new Head have any say in the outcome of this document?

HOLDS THUMBS for the best!

I'm with noone on this (yeah it never gets old :D ) I think we can all expect a fat lump of coal in our stockings.

We all think the Telkom has gotten a sneak preview, right? Is there anyway of confirming this? Me thinks some dust could be thrown into the air

Today.....today..today.......todaaaaayy. At least we hope.

(sung to the tune of a song I cant remember the name of from monty python)
